Job Description

  • Location: San Jose, Costa Rica| Hybrid.
  • Segment: Americas.
  • Direct Report To: F&A Manager.

This role safeguards the accuracy and compliance of Duracell's financial close, ensuring timely, controlled reporting that leadership and stakeholders can rely on. It owns core close activities, journal entries, cash position, reconciliations, and fluctuation analysis, while adhering internal compliance and strengthening internal controls. The role also drives process improvement, including AI adoption, to modernize the close cycle.

  • Perform monthly and quarterly financial close activities, such as preparation of month-end journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, open items resolution.
  • Examine trial balances and transactional level details to identify and resolve issues while developing an in-depth understanding of the business.
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement account fluctuations.
  • Perform and support accounting activities including accruals, reclassifications, reserves (i.e., account receivable), tax processes, inventories, cash reconciliations, among others.
  • Ensure compliance with Duracell’s Standard Practice Instructions, Sarbanes Oxley internal controls, and FCPA.
  • Establish new controls and procedures as needed to enhance controllership environment.
  • Ensure Duracell internal reporting deadlines are met.
  • Assist with implementation of new accounting processes.
  • Embrace AI implementation across accounting processes.

Must-Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • 7 years of prior relevant experience in accounting role, including month and quarter close activities, journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Proven knowledge using SAP and Blackline.
  • Finance and accounting principles knowledge, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and professionally.
  • Open to working extended hours during peak periods such as month-end, quarter-end, and budget cycles.
  • Advanced English proficiency.

Nice-to-Have

  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Experience in leveraging automated financial reporting systems and optimizing workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
