We are seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and organized Senior Accountant, possessing direct experience within a manufacturing environment, to join our team. This pivotal role involves managing key accounting functions while ensuring the smooth operation of our office environment, reporting directly to the Financial Controller.

We are seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and organized Senior Accountant, possessing direct experience within a manufacturing environment, to join our team. This role involves managing key accounting functions while ensuring the smooth operation of our office environment, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. This is a diverse, hands-on role ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who enjoys contributing to both the financial integrity and the operational efficiency of a growing company. You will be responsible for significant aspects of the accounting cycle, financial reporting, inventory and cost accounting considerations, and analysis.

Job Duties:

  • Manage full-cycle accounts payable (AP) processes, including invoice verification, coding, processing, payments, and vendor reconciliations.
  • Manage full-cycle accounts receivable (AR) processes, including invoicing, collections, cash application, and customer reconciliations.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger (GL); prepare and post journal entries, including those related to inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and manufacturing variances.
  • Perform timely bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Record payroll journal entries based on third-party provider reports, reconcile related liability accounts, and verify the timely remittance of all source deductions (CPP, EI, Income Tax).
  • Calculate, collect, file, and remit GST and BC PST accurately and on time.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring deadlines are met, with a focus on accurate inventory valuation and COGS reporting.
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for review by the Financial Controller.
  • Assist the Financial Controller with variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast), particularly focusing on production costs and material variances.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, incorporating manufacturing-specific drivers.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support, especially related to inventory and costing.
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and complete financial records (digital and physical).
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance function, especially related to manufacturing accounting workflows.
  • Utilize and maintain data integrity within the company's ERP system, ensuring it accurately reflects manufacturing operations.
  • Handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related business field is required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience specifically within a manufacturing environment is required. This must include hands-on experience with inventory accounting, cost of goods sold calculation, and ideally exposure to standard costing or variance analysis.
  • Overall minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting.
  • Experience working with ERP systems is essential, particularly modules related to inventory and manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian GST/PST rules and remittance procedures.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas) and competence in other MS Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Previous experience handling office administration duties is a plus.
