Job Description

We’re looking for a Accounting Manager who’s organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to support the Controller in overseeing the company’s financial operations and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

🕘 Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (75 hours biweekly)

🔍 What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reporting packages.
  • Support the development and coordination of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, funding agreements, and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate year-end audit activities and act as a key liaison with external auditors.
  • Oversee accounting and reporting for grants, restricted funds, and funding agreements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, systems, and efficiencies.
  • Provide financial analysis and guidance to operational leaders and support organizational decision-making.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring:

  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least two to three years of formal supervisory or people-management responsibility. Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian accounting standards applicable to not-for-profit organizations is required; direct not-for-profit or government-funded accounting experience is strongly preferred. Advanced proficiency with financial management systems, and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and staff development experience.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
