About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and energetic Senior Accountant, who will fit into a fun and fast paced environment as a hands-on contributor in the organization. Reporting to the Controller, this position will support a team in overseeing the accounting, tax, and financial reporting related functions of the organization. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead month-end closing, including preparing journal entries related to accruals, depreciation, and amortization, variance analysis.
  • Oversee month-end account reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Consolidation, preparation of key working papers/ consolidated schedules, and management reports.
  • Lead intercompany transactions accounting and reconciliation across subsidiaries, and resolving outstanding items.
  • Prepare and review capitalized Labour (internally developed intangible assets) and amortization. Assist in preparation of capitalization memo.
  • Processing and reconciling cross-charges among related entities.
  • Weekly cash flow forecasts and variance analysis.
  • Payroll processing & Data Entry: Accurately enter employee changes, hours, and updates from HR tracking sheet into the payroll system, verifying that all final payroll reports are accurate and complete prior to processing.
  • Support the annual financial audit and quarterly financial reviews, including assisting with the financial statements, MD&A, notes to financial statements.
  • Perform technical accounting, AP & AR support, and financial analysis when required.
  • Timely preparation and filing of HST/QST returns and remittances. Responding to and providing supporting documentation/details requested in GST/HST and QST notices of assessment, reassessment, and government audit inquiries.
  • Coordinating with tax advisors and tax auditors to provide information and supporting documentation required for corporate tax return preparation.
  • Identify and implement improvements, increasing efficiency and automation, to optimize internal processes
  • Contribute to key finance projects and initiatives on an ad hoc basis

You will bring:

  • University degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting
  • CPA designation or equivalent accounting designation
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in a finance and accounting role in a multi-entity and multi-currency SaaS environment.
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strong experience with IFRS reporting and technical accounting, particularly in IFRS 16 Leases, IFRS 9 Financial Instruments, IAS 38 Intangible Assets, and IFRS related to Consolidated Financial Statements is a must.
  • Experience preparing indirect tax filings including GST/HST and QST returns.
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange accounting and intercompany eliminations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, cross-functional collaboration, logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to solve problems and navigate complexity in a constantly evolving and often ambiguous environment
  • Exposure to Merger & acquisition, multi-currencies, multi-subsidiary consolidation.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to produce quality work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with a keen attention to detail, and ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Previous experience with Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, Salesforce preferred

This is a full-time, remote position with an expected salary range of $72,000–$85,000 CAD annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Think Research does not require Canadian work experience for this role.

Think Research may use artificial intelligence–enabled tools to support parts of the recruitment process, such as application screening or candidate matching. These tools are used to assist — not replace — human decision-making.
