Location Description
Hopkins, MN is home to our Michael Foods, Inc. corporate headquarters. Hopkins is located 7 miles west of Minneapolis, boasting natural surroundings in a suburban environment that also provides quick access to major travel ways and local restaurants that give our community a distinct character. Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing and supporting a broad range of general accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis, process support, and month-end close responsibilities. This role is expected to place particular emphasis on cash-related accounting activities, including monitoring actual cash activity, supporting cash reconciliations and assisting with the preparation of cash activity reporting. The position requires strong analytical skills, sound accounting judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal business partners and Finance leadership.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare and post standard and complex journal entries as part of month-end close and recurring accounting activities.
• Prepare, review, and maintain account reconciliations to ensure transactions are properly supported, accurately recorded, and in accordance with internal policy and GAAP.
• Analyze financial results, account activity, and period-over-period variances to identify trends, explain changes, and support management reporting.
• Perform cash-related accounting activities, including reviewing cash postings, supporting cash account reconciliations, and researching reconciling items or unusual activity.
• Monitor actual cash activity and assist in identifying, summarizing, and communicating significant cash receipts, disbursements, transfers, or other activity impacting cash balances.
• Support weekly cash forecasting by gathering actual activity, analyzing trends, preparing supporting schedules, and assisting with forecast reporting.
• Prepare monthly cash flow and working capital reporting & assist with quarterly balance sheet/cash flow forecasts
• Partner with internal Finance and Parent Company personnel to research accounting questions, validate activity, and support cash-related reporting needs.
• Identify and resolve imbalances, posting errors, reconciling differences, and data integrity issues between financial reporting systems, bank activity, and the general ledger.
• Build and maintain reporting tools, Excel-based analyses, and supporting schedules used to streamline accounting activities, cash monitoring, and management reporting.
• Maintain process documentation, support internal control compliance, and recommend improvements to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and visibility of accounting and cash processes.
• Support special projects and ad hoc analysis as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting-related experience, preferably with general ledger, reconciliations, month-end close, financial analysis, and/or cash accounting responsibilities.
• Experience monitoring cash activity, preparing cash reconciliations, or supporting cash forecasting and reporting processes preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and GAAP.
• Advanced technology skills, including Microsoft Office with strong Excel capabilities and experience using ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to research issues and explain financial activity clearly.
• High attention to detail, commitment to data integrity, and ability to meet deadlines in a close and reporting environment.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and crossfunctional teams.

The pay range for this position is $72,498 - $101,497 per year.
