Job Description

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Accountant – India will play a highly involved supporting role in the India finance function, contributing to monthly close, statutory compliance, audits, tax support, and financial reporting. This role is ideal for a strong accounting professional in the Mumbai area with India GAAP and US GAAP knowledge who wants exposure to a US-owned global organization.

Detailed Role Responsibilities

I. Monthly Close and Financial Reporting

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, general ledger review, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting deliverables.

  • Prepare management reporting, variance analysis, and corporate consolidation inputs to support timely and accurate reporting.

II. Statutory Compliance, Tax and Audit Support

  • Support India GAAP and US GAAP reporting expectations, statutory accounting, tax compliance, audit requirements, and applicable corporate policies.

  • Prepare and support the review of tax returns, statutory financial statements, regulatory submissions, and audit deliverables.

III. Controls, Documentation and Process Scalability

  • Help maintain accounting processes, controls, reconciliations, and documentation that support a scalable, audit-ready finance function.

  • Identify opportunities to standardize processes and strengthen the quality, reliability, and audit readiness of finance deliverables.

IV. Cross-Functional Finance Partnership

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, external auditors, tax advisors, and corporate finance teams on audits, compliance reviews, reporting, and process standardization.

  • Communicate clearly with local business teams and global finance stakeholders to support effective decision-making and execution.

III. Qualifications

Education, experience, technical skills, and certifications required to succeed in the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or a related field required; CA, Cost Accountant, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification preferred.

  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally in a multinational, manufacturing, industrial, water, infrastructure, or technical product/service environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of India GAAP, US GAAP, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and audit requirements required.

  • Experience with ERP/reporting systems and strong Excel skills required; SAP, Infor LN/Baan, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Power BI, or similar tools preferred.

  • Strong English communication skills required, with the ability to work effectively with local business teams and global finance stakeholders.

Location

Mumbai area, India. This role is expected to work closely with local business teams and global finance stakeholders; occasional travel may be required for business needs, audits, or meetings.
