Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional qualification CIMA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
  • 7 years of experience in an Accounting function including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and related international accounting standards.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or MSA.
  • Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation. Ability to propose next steps and roadblock solutions and anticipate questions and challenges early, manage time, and follow work plans.
  • Ability to have strong attention to detail, organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Excellent investigative skills and ability to communicate effectively with executive management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of controllership milestones for new first-of-a-kind (FOAK) entity launch. Design and manage the delivery of accounting processes in your portfolio, ensuring that the internal control environment is robust and quality is maintained. Identify and manage process improvement opportunities by leveraging AI, scripts, and automation tools to streamline financial reporting workflows.
  • Oversee the annual statutory financial statements and tax compliance process, including management of the external audit and tax filings for a portfolio of Alphabet's companies in the Africa sub-region.
  • Perform regular in-depth analysis on the financials, ensuring the integrity and financial accuracy of our books and records, while preparing, analysing and posting journals.
  • Balance sheet management, review reconciliations of key balance sheet account balances including relevant reporting for the same.
