We are seeking a mission-aligned Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This pivotal role oversees the daily accounting operations and complex payroll functions for our retail locations throughout CommunityAid’s geographical footprint. The ideal candidate balances high-level financial analysis with the meticulous detail required for payroll administration. This role ensures the safeguarding of company assets, the management and security of financial and payroll data while also providing critical data points to assist in the management of the organization.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Guided by CommunityAid’s Core Behaviors, the successful candidate will be a champion of our values-driven culture, focusing on payroll, general ledger management, and reporting.
- Execute full-cycle bi-weekly payroll for a diverse workforce across multiple locations.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and manage fixed assets.
- Ensure accurate processing of employee benefits, 403(b) contributions, and payroll taxes.
- Stay current on the state-specific labor laws and local tax requirements across our geographic business and employee footprint.
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and tax inquiries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes for CommunityAid Inc. operations and CommunityAid Foundation operations.
- Assist in preparation and analysis of consolidated financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows between retail Point of Sale (POS) systems and the general ledger.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
- Act as backup to Accounts Payable
- Review daily Cash Reconciliation
- Reconcile credit card/cash discrepancies

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, specifically within a retail or non-profit environment.
- Proven experience managing payroll for 100+ employees; understanding of payroll tax and compliance.
- NetSuite experience is highly preferred.
- Paycom or similar advanced payroll platforms (ADP, Workday) experience is a significant plus.
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Data Modeling).
- Location & Travel: This is a hybrid role requiring a consistent presence at our York, Pennsylvania headquarters and occasional visits to our store locations, with the flexibility to work remotely.
