ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring statutory compliance across the business. You'll partner with leaders across the organisation, identify opportunities to improve systems and processes, and provide valuable financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
We're looking for someone who has:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- CA/CPA qualification (or currently working towards).
- Strong experience in financial reporting, month-end close and statutory compliance.
- Sound knowledge of Australian tax and accounting requirements (BAS, GST, PAYGW, Payroll Tax, FBT and Super).
- Experience with Xero or a similar accounting/ERP system.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability.
- Experience in multi-site, fleet, transport or asset-intensive industries is highly regarded.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journals, accruals, reconciliations, balance sheet reviews and preparation of accurate financial and management reports.
- Prepare financial reporting, variance analysis and supporting commentary to assist the CFO and Executive Leadership Team in strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and review workpapers to support statutory compliance, including BAS, GST, PAYGW, Payroll Tax, FBT, Superannuation and other regulatory obligations.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and strengthen financial controls by investigating reconciliation differences, identifying process exceptions and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with branch managers and department leaders to provide commercial financial insights, improve reporting accuracy and enhance operational accountability across the business.
- Support the ongoing development of finance systems, automation and process improvements to improve efficiency, scalability and reporting capability.
- Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation while liaising with external accountants, tax advisers and auditors to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Contribute to a high-performing finance function by supporting additional projects and undertaking other reasonable duties aligned with your skills, experience and the needs of the business.
