Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly capable and self-motivated Senior Accountant to join our client on a fully remote, full-time basis from the India. This is a compliance-focused role with a strong emphasis on Australian taxation, BAS preparation, PAYG withholding, and Xero management. The ideal candidate brings solid hands-on experience with Australian clients, is well-versed in ATO obligations including portal lodgement, and is reliable enough to work independently within Australian business hours. While portal access will be granted progressively as trust is established, the successful candidate must already possess the knowledge and experience to lodge when the time comes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate BAS work papers for review, with progression toward ATO portal lodgement as access is established
• Ensure full compliance with Australian GST, PAYG withholding, and ATO reporting obligations
• Manage and maintain Xero as the primary accounting platform, including transaction processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Perform regular bank reconciliations and maintain clean, audit-ready financial records
• Stay current with Australian tax regulations and compliance requirements
• Liaise with internal stakeholders on financial matters in a clear, professional manner
• Support multiple client accounts simultaneously, managing competing priorities with accuracy and professionalism across each engagement

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on accounting experience working with Australian clients
• Proven BAS preparation experience and strong working knowledge of Australian GST and ATO compliance obligations
• Experienced with ATO portal lodgement - must have the qualifications and knowledge to lodge independently (portal access will be granted progressively)
• Solid PAYG withholding knowledge and practical application
• Strong, practical Xero proficiency
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CA, CPA, or working toward a professional accounting qualification (highly desirable)
• High degree of reliability, consistency, and self-motivation - comfortable working independently in a remote setting
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication in English
• Experience with Xero add-ons (e.g. Dext, Hubdoc, ApprovalMax) is an advantage
• Prior experience in a public practice or multi-client environment is an advantage
