Job Description

The Senior Accountant is part of the finance department responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, assist in the preparation of financial reports and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures. This includes general ledger account reconciliations and financial projects as assigned by the Assistant VP of Finance. Specific responsibilities would include:

  1. Preparation and reconciliation of accounts as assigned for all system wide entities, including month end close.
  2. Assistance with preparation of monthly financial statements and other financial reports.
  3. Analysis of monthly budget to actual variances.
  4. Contributing to and executing department and organizational special projects as assigned.
  5. Collaborate with operational leaders across departments to support financial reporting requirements.
  6. Preparation and completion of documents for annual audit as assigned by the Assistant VP of Finance within established timeframes.
  7. Effective communication with CFO, Executive VP of Finance and Assistant VP of Finance to ensure deadlines are met.
  8. Develop, understand and adhere to agency policies and procedures.
  9. Demonstrate knowledge of and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and other related state and federal regulations.
  10. Other Finance Department projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  1. Bachelor of Science in Accounting required.
  2. Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office.
  3. Strong communication and analytical skills.
  4. Strong problem solving, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  5. Detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
  6. Creative, self-disciplined and able to work independently.
  7. Minimum of three years of accounting experience.
  8. Experience in Healthcare, Not-For-Profit and multi-entity accounting preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Position requires a mixture of sitting, standing, and walking
  2. Visual ability sufficient to read data on computer screen and paper documents
  3. Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written or verbal communication.
  4. Ability to express self verbally and in writing.
  5. Ability to drive in varied weather conditions throughout the year.
  6. Ability to use telephone and communicate over the phone.
  7. Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Category III - Employee who rarely has contact with blood and body fluids.
