Job Description

Our client, a well-established farming operation, is seeking a Senior Accountant with a strong focus on general ledger accounting and financial reporting. This role will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the GL, ensuring accurate and timely close processes, and supporting overall financial operations in a dynamic, seasonal environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all transactions
Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
Analyze financial results and investigate variances across accounts
Ensure proper classification of expenses, including farm operating costs, labor, and overhead
Maintain and improve the chart of accounts to support business needs
Support financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP
Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of supporting schedules
Strengthen and maintain internal controls over financial reporting
Partner with AP/AR teams to ensure accurate posting and timely close
Assist with system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
3-5 years of general ledger accounting experience
Strong understanding of month-end close and financial reporting processes
Experience working in industries with operational complexity (agriculture, manufacturing, or similar preferred)
Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
Solid understanding of GAAP
