About the Project

The Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant is a major infrastructure program providing a secure, climate‑resilient water source for Western Australia. Delivered through a multi‑partner JV, the project brings together diverse teams to support essential community outcomes and long‑term sustainability. This role sits within the project finance team and contributes directly to financial governance and project performance.

About the Opportunity

The Senior Project Accountant leads core finance activities, with responsibility for overseeing the accounts' payable function and managing the AP team.

The role supports month‑end close, general ledger integrity, JV reporting, cash flow inputs and compliance with accounting standards.

Working closely with commercial and delivery teams, it ensures accurate, timely financial information that supports decision‑making, audit readiness and strong project controls. Reporting to the Finance Lead, the role serves as a senior technical advisor within the finance function.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead and manage the Accounts Payable team, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely payment cycles.
• Oversee AP/AR processes, including supplier bank detail approval and invoice integrity.
• Deliver month‑end reporting, including accruals, JV reporting and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure adherence to accounting standards.
• Prepare financial reports, cash flow inputs and project claim reconciliations.
• Support audits by providing accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
• Oversee tax requirements including BAS and Fuel Tax Credit reporting.
• Perform cost analysis and support monthly forecasting and commercial reporting.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• CA or CPA qualified (preferred).
• Strong project accounting experience with AP team leadership exposure.
• Proficiency with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Sound understanding of Australian accounting standards and JV/project financial environments.
