Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to support the Division Controller in leading key financial operations, including general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, and audit preparation. This role is critical in ensuring accurate, timely financial information and driving process improvements across the department. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, perform detailed financial and variance analysis, support ERP/system initiatives, and lead special projects that enhance overall financial performance. Ideal candidates have strong analytical abilities, advanced Excel skills, and experience with financial systems and reporting tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze budgets and monthly forecasts, providing updates to reflect current financial performance.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and perform ongoing and ad hoc financial analysis for management.
  • Conduct variance analysis, identify trends, and determine root causes, driving corrective action when necessary in collaboration with the appropriate teams.
  • Work closely with management and staff across departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to achieve departmental objectives and improve financial operations.
  • Continuously monitor financial operations to identify efficiencies and streamline processes, ensuring high accuracy.
  • Assist in preparing internal and external audit schedules and ensure compliance with company processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new procedures to enhance department workflow and organizational performance.
  • Provide training and support to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Lead special projects and process improvement initiatives within the finance department.
  • Participate in ERP/financial system implementations to enhance financial operations and reporting.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Skills

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Strong ability to prepare, analyze, and present financial data and variance reports.
  • General Ledger Expertise: Proficient in managing general ledger processes and ensuring accuracy.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial data clearly to management.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to identify trends, discrepancies, and solutions to financial challenges.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with various teams within the organization to achieve financial goals.
  • ERP & Financial Systems: Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, Essbase, BI) is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite applications for financial reporting and analysis.

Qualifications

  • Education: BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting. CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience: At least three years of progressive experience in financial reporting/general ledger management.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with Essbase, Oracle ERP, and Business Intelligence software is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, with an ability to explain complex financial matters clearly.
  • Work Independence: Ability to work under limited supervision and make decisions autonomously.
  • Public Accounting Experience: Experience in public accounting or a similar setting is preferred, but not required.

  • Repetitive Motion: Frequent use of hands for typing and using office equipment.
