Backed by our investor, Waterland Private Equity, our five companies—digidip, shopping24, mrge Americas, MaxBounty, and Yieldkit from mrge—are building and scaling technology platforms that connect advertisers and publishers for mutual success.

We are an international, multilingual team with a flat organizational structure. Our teams are empowered to work with a high degree of autonomy from our offices in Hamburg and Berlin, as well as remotely. Our culture is built on trust, friendliness, and collaboration, creating a positive and engaging work atmosphere.

We would be delighted if you joined us at mrge as our new Senior Accountant (m/f/d) for our Group Accounting team.

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and hands-on Senior Accountant to take ownership of accounting operations for our Canadian entity. In this role, you will manage the full scope of local accounting operations, month-end close, audit readiness, and statutory reporting, while ensuring accurate and timely reporting to our Group Accounting team for consolidation purposes.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure compliance, strong controls, and scalable accounting processes.

Locations: Montreal and Ottawa

Your Tasks:

  • Own the end-to-end accounting operations for the Canadian entities, ensuring accurate bookkeeping and compliance with internal policies.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages and financial statements to be submitted to Group Accounting for consolidation.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of business transactions.
  • Prepare and post journal entries in the ERP system, including accruals, allocations, and adjustments.
  • Support revenue recognition and cost of sales reconciliation during month-end close.
  • Ensure intercompany transactions are booked correctly and reconciled with Group entities.
  • Manage Accounts Payable (AP) processes including booking, reviewing, and processing vendor invoices.
  • Ensure accurate and timely Accounts Receivable (AR) invoice postings and support billing-related activities.
  • Post and reconcile credit card transactions and ensure proper expense allocation.
  • Perform regular bank postings and bank reconciliations, ensuring cash movements are accurately recorded.
  • Support monthly AP/AR cut-off activities and accrual postings.
  • Manage the full-cycle invoicing process for our partners, ensuring invoices are generated accurately based on platform data.
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable (AR) aging reports and support the collection process (dunning) to ensure timely receipt of funds.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and advisors to support annual audit and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Support compliance activities, including preparation of information for GST/HST filings and remittances.
  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, Tech, and other teams to ensure accurate financial data and smooth workflows.
  • Continuously assess and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Recommend enhancements to reporting, reconciliation workflows, and month-end closing procedures.

Your Profile:

Background You have a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent practical experience in operational finance.

Professional Experience: You bring 3–4 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance operations (General Ledger, AP/AR, billing, month-end close), ideally within an international company or group structure with reporting to Group Accounting.

Accounting Expertise: You have strong hands-on knowledge of month-end close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and statutory/audit support. Experience with Canadian GAAP is required. You have experience supporting GST/HST reporting and Canadian compliance workflows.

Accounting Software: Proven experience with ERP and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Lucanet, or similar platforms).

Mindset: You are detail-oriented, hands-on, and take ownership of your work. You enjoy improving processes, collaborating cross-functionally, and ensuring high-quality reporting to support business growth.
