Specific Responsibilities Would Include

Centric Brands is looking for a dynamic, creative, resourceful, dedicated and detail oriented Senior Accountant to join the Divisional Accounting team. This individual must be a self-starter and team player who takes initiative, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited about joining a team on a journey to accelerate transformation across Centric Brands.

The Senior Accountant will assist in preparing month end close journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and overseeing the general ledger daily operations for various brands and channels. This position is based in New York City, New York and will report to the Accounting Manager. Currently on a hybrid schedule four days in office, one day work from home (WFH), plus twelve WFH days to be scheduled.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to booking, reconciling, and reporting financial activity.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries including discount accruals, margin support, operating expense accruals, reclasses, allocations, prepaids, and sales commission.
  • Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Ensure all financial closing and reporting deadlines that have been assigned are met.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations within mandated deadlines.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests.
  • Support various business partners (FP&A, IT, AR, AP, Tax, Treasury and Operations) on processes, policies, key system improvements, and initiatives.
  • Identify areas for process improvement.
  • Document policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Assist in various special projects for the Senior Director, Accounting and VP, Assistant Controller.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as requested.

Our Best Fit Candidate Would Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5 years practical accounting experience
  • Familiarity with month end close and journal entry processes
  • Experience with Retail and eCommerce channels a plus
  • Strong analytical/planning skills, together with a strong accounting/control background
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel (formulas, macros)
  • Knowledge of SAP a plus
  • Knowledge of GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
  • Ability to create ad hoc reports and analysis
  • Work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills

Salary Range: $78,500-$90,000

Our job postings include an annual base salary range at the time of employment. The stated base salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on several factors, including the selected candidate's educational and professional experience, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. Base salary is a part of a total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, annual bonus and other Centric Brands sponsored benefit programs.
