Today, Green Circle Growers is still owned and operated by the van Wingerden family and has grown to over 150 acres of indoor growing space. Our state-of-the-art greenhouses offer many different environments to keep up with the demanding mix of products that today’s market expects. We now provide plants to regional and national stores across the United States and Canada. We are able to market and offer broad products to mass merchants, as well as to growers. The retail market expects the full line of annuals in flats, containers, and baskets. The grower line produces pre-finished containers, plugs, and liners.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting a wide range of accounting functions in compliance with U.S. GAAP standards. The position manages daily cash activities, including bank transactions and line of credit activity, while ensuring accurate reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts. The Senior Accountant oversees month-end close processes, intercompany transactions, and fixed asset accounting across multiple profit entities—from asset activation through depreciation. This role also maintains detailed accounting records, supporting schedules for balance sheet and income statement accounts, and ensures adherence to company policies and internal controls. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, external partners, and auditors is essential along with preparing ad hoc financial reports and supporting audit requests as needed.
JOB DUTIES:
• Support accounting functions adhering to U.S. GAAP methodologies
• Manage the daily cash file including line of credit and bank activity
• Reconcile bank account and credit card accounts
• Perform and oversee month end closing activities
• Work collaboratively with the accounting team and cross functionally as well as maintain external communication
• Oversee fixed assets for the three profit entities from in-service date to preparation of depreciation entry
• Maintain fixed asset ledger including fixed asset roll forwards
• Oversee intercompany transactions, entries, and reconciliation
• Maintain supporting schedules for balance sheet and income statement accounts monthly
including transaction reconciliation where required
• Maintain accounting records as required per company policy and required for GAAP and control
• purposes (documentation, approvals, etc.)
• Maintain key accounting controls and assist with audit requests
• Prepare ad-hoc reports based on a schedule
• All other duties as assignedQualificationsQUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in a senior level accounting position or other relevant experience
• Experience in Microsoft Dynamics preferred
• Experience with a document management / paperless automation platform is a plus
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Sharp attention to detail
• Ability to maintain multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills
