Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries, including adjusting and closing entries. • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies. • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements (balance sheets, income, and cash flow statements). • Month-end and Year-end Close: Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely closing of accounts. • Budgeting & Forecasting: Contribute to the budgeting process, analyze variances, and provide financial insights. • Internal Controls: Evaluate and monitor internal controls, identifying and mitigating risks. • Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP), rules and regulations governing federal credit unions, and internal policies. • Audits: Assist with external audits, preparing required documents and liaising with auditors. • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency. Recommend ways to reduce costs. • Leadership: Provide guidance and support to Accounting staff. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a financial institution. Credit Union experience a plus. • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) • Proficiency in accounting software and Excel • High level of accuracy and attention to detail • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills • Excellent interpersonal and strong written and verbal communication skills
