Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior-level responsibilities.
Advanced knowledge of:
GAAP (nonprofit)
Healthcare accounting
Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200)
Massachusetts nonprofit and healthcare regulations
Extremely high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, advanced lookup functions, and complex formulas.
Strong technical accounting skills with the ability to manage detailed, complex financial data, analysis and reconciliation.
Highly tech-savvy with experience in accounting systems, data imports/exports, and process automation.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in an FQHC or healthcare nonprofit environment.
Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT.
Familiarity with UKG payroll systems and OCHIN Epic billing.
PowerPoint experience for financial presentations and board materials

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
General Ledger & Month-End Close
Serve as a lead contributor to the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
Prepare, review, and post journal entries.
Maintain detailed general ledger support and reconciliations.
Perform and review bank reconciliations and cash account reconciliations.
Support cash management activities, including deposits and cash flow monitoring.
Assist and Support accounts payable.
Grants & Compliance Accounting
Assist in supporting Accounting Manager with grant billing and accounting for federal, state, local, and private grants in accordance with GAAP and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200).
Assist and support maintaining detailed grant tracking schedules and supporting documentation.
Ensure proper revenue recognition, expense allocation, and compliance with grant requirements.
Support HRSA-related financial reporting needs, including financial data supporting Uniform Financial Reporting (UFR) and Uniform Data System (UDS) reporting.
Assist in updating policies and procedures
Healthcare & Cost Reporting Support
Provide accounting support for Medicaid and Medicare cost reports.
Assist with tracking and documentation of costs related to FQHC operations/sites and grant/program funding.
Ensure healthcare-specific accounting practices align with nonprofit and regulatory standards.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Support
Assist the Director of Finance and CFO with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting.
Support variance analysis and provide detailed explanations for budget-to-actual results.
Prepare schedules and financial data for internal reporting and leadership review.
Audit & External Reporting
Prepare schedules and documentation for annual financial statement audits and Single Audits.
Support external auditors under the guidance of the Director of Finance and/or CFO.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, healthcare regulations, and Massachusetts-specific nonprofit and healthcare requirements.
Systems, Automation & Process Improvement
Serve as a power user of Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT, including assisting with the development and optimization of modules such as fixed assets.
Perform data imports/exports and support system integrations with UKG (payroll) and OCHIN Epic (billing).
Lead efforts to document, standardize, and improve accounting SOPs.
Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual and paper-based accounting processes.
Support the transition from paper-based workflows to more efficient, technology-driven solutions.
Advanced Reporting & Tools
Utilize expert-level Excel skills (pivot tables, X/V/H LOOKUP, complex formulas, data analysis) to build and maintain financial schedules and reports.
Assist Director of Finance and CFO with preparation of financial dashboards, graphs, and charts for leadership and Board reporting.
Use PowerPoint to support finance presentations and board packages as needed.
Team Collaboration & Leadership Support
Act as a functional team lead and technical resource for Staff Accountants and Accounting Assistants.
Provide guidance, review work for accuracy, and assist with problem-solving.
Collaborate closely with Finance leadership and cross-departmental teams as needed.
Working Conditions:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and writing on a computer.
Requirements include lifting and carrying objects weighing 5-20 pounds of average.
Frequent standing and walking.
Compliance
This position requires compliance with Caring Health Center’s compliance standards, including its Standards of Conducts, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.
Salary: $75,000 to $90,000
