1. Role Purpose


The Senior Account Manager – Utility BESS is responsible for developing and managing strategic accounts in the utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System business. This role focuses on driving sales growth, building long-term relationships with key customers, and supporting the company’s expansion into the renewable energy and energy storage market.


Coming from a leading mobile phone and smart technology group, the company is leveraging its strong capabilities in hardware, software, connectivity, battery technology, digital platforms, and global supply chain management to expand into Utility BESS solutions.


The role requires a strong commercial mindset, proven experience in key account management, and a solid understanding of utility-scale energy storage, renewable energy projects, EPCs, developers, utilities, and power infrastructure customers.


2. Key Responsibilities


Account Management and Business Development


  • Develop and manage strategic accounts in the utility-scale BESS sector, including utilities, IPPs, renewable energy developers, EPC contractors, grid operators, and infrastructure investors.

  • Identify new business opportunities and build a strong sales pipeline for utility-scale energy storage projects.

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with senior stakeholders, decision-makers, technical teams, procurement teams, and project partners.

  • Understand customer needs, project requirements, investment priorities, and decision-making processes.

  • Develop account plans, sales strategies, and engagement roadmaps for key customers.

  • Drive customer acquisition, account penetration, and revenue growth in assigned markets.


Utility BESS Sales and Project Support


  • Promote the company’s Utility BESS solutions, including battery systems, power conversion systems, energy management systems, integration solutions, and related services.

  • Lead commercial discussions with customers, partners, and project stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with technical, product, solution engineering, project management, legal, finance, and supply chain teams to prepare proposals and project solutions.

  • Support customers throughout the sales cycle, from early-stage opportunity development to tender participation, contract negotiation, and project award.

  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure proposed solutions meet customer requirements, technical specifications, grid standards, safety standards, and commercial expectations.

  • Support project handover from sales to delivery teams after contract signing.


Tender, Proposal, and Contract Management


  • Monitor market opportunities, public tenders, private project pipelines, and customer procurement plans.

  • Lead or support tender preparation, including commercial proposals, pricing, documentation, compliance checks, and submission coordination.

  • Review tender documents and identify commercial, contractual, technical, and delivery risks.

  • Work with Legal and Finance teams on contract terms, payment conditions, warranty terms, performance guarantees, penalties, and risk allocation.

  • Support contract negotiation to achieve commercially viable and risk-balanced outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate records of opportunities, proposals, customer interactions, and contract status.


Market Intelligence and Strategy


  • Track market trends in renewable energy, grid modernization, utility-scale storage, power infrastructure, energy policy, and competitor activities.

  • Provide market insights and customer feedback to support product positioning, pricing strategy, and go-to-market planning.

  • Identify potential partnerships with EPCs, developers, technology partners, consultants, and financial institutions.

  • Support the development of local market strategies for Utility BESS business expansion.

  • Share insights on regulatory changes, customer investment trends, and competitive landscape.


Cross-functional Collaboration


  • Collaborate with regional and global teams to align customer engagement, solution design, pricing, delivery capability, and business priorities.

  • Work with technical teams to translate customer requirements into feasible solution proposals.

  • Coordinate with marketing and corporate affairs teams to support customer events, industry conferences, workshops, and product presentations.

  • Support internal reporting, sales forecasting, pipeline reviews, and management updates.

  • Ensure smooth communication between customers and internal stakeholders throughout the sales and delivery lifecycle.


Requirements


Education


  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy, Business Administration, Economics, International Business, or a related field.

  • Technical background in power systems, renewable energy, electrical engineering, or energy storage is preferred.

  • MBA or postgraduate qualification is an advantage.


Experience


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in account management, business development, technical sales, or solution sales.

  • At least 2–3 years of experience in one or more of the following sectors is strongly preferred:

    • Utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems.

    • Renewable energy.

    • Solar or wind power projects.

    • Power infrastructure.

    • EPC services.

    • Electrical equipment.

    • Grid solutions.

    • Industrial energy solutions.

  • Proven experience managing key accounts, large enterprise customers, developers, EPCs, utilities, or government-linked energy stakeholders.

  • Experience in tender management, commercial negotiation, and complex project sales.

  • Experience working in multinational companies, technology companies, telecom groups, electronics manufacturers, or energy solution providers is an advantage.


Industry Knowledge


  • Understanding of utility-scale BESS project structure, sales cycle, and key stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with BESS components such as battery racks, battery management systems, power conversion systems, energy management systems, transformers, switchgear, HVAC, fire protection, and monitoring systems.

  • Basic understanding of renewable energy integration, grid stability, peak shaving, frequency regulation, capacity firming, and energy arbitrage.

  • Knowledge of utility procurement processes, EPC contracting models, project financing, and power infrastructure development is preferred.

  • Awareness of relevant safety, quality, and technical standards for BESS projects is an advantage.


4. Required Skills

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple opportunities at different stages.

  • Strong coordination skills in a matrix and multinational environment.

  • Fluent English communication skills; Vietnamese or local market language is an advantage depending on market coverage.

  • High level of ownership, resilience, integrity, and customer orientation.
