The work involves responsibility for performing moderately difficult billing and clerical work in the maintenance and review of financial records. The work may require a general understanding of specific law, office rules, procedures and policies and billing regulations. Employees in this position do not perform double entry bookkeeping. Employees generally follow a prescribed routine in the performance of moderately difficult financial record keeping duties. Unusual problems or situations not previously encountered are referred to supervisors. Supervision over the work of others is not usually a responsibility of employees in this class. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the assigned supervisor allowing for some exercise of independent judgement on carrying out assignments in accordance with well-defined procedures. A Senior Account Clerk does related work as assigned.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of modern methods of keeping and reviewing financial records; good knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; good knowledge of business English; ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to write legibly; ability to make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately; ability to get along well with others; clerical aptitude; mental alertness; a high degree of accuracy; tact; courtesy; physical condition commensurate to the demands of the position.

Senior Account Clerk – C in all divisions

[2] Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. [3] A related field of study is one in which the applicant successfully completed at least 9 credit hours of study in accounting and/or math. Successfully completed means the applicant achieved a grade of at least 2.0.
An individual who receives a provisional appointment must take the examination for the position title on the next occasion it is offered. In order to be eligible for a permanent appointment to the position, the provisional appointee must pass the exam and be ranked 1, 2, 3, or be tied in score with the individual ranked number 3 of those who are willing to accept appointment to the position. It should be understood that even if the provisional appointee is eligible for appointment, the employer may choose another candidate to fill the position on a permanent basis. NOTE: Livingston County residency is not a requirement for this position. However, Livingston County residents will be given preference in the hiring process.
