THE OPPORTUNITY

The successful candidate will be working within Digital Product Platform (DPP) - EDS and be responsible for the 2D Drawing Integration design activities of electrical components and harnesses for the next generation of electrical architecture.

The 2D Drawing & Manufacturing Specification Engineer defines Design, development and industrialization of electrical harnesses. Delivery of optimized 2D drawings following JLR standards, methodology and Design for Manufacturing requirements on a vehicle programme. Interact closely with cross-departmental teams (Circuit, Complexity, Component, 3D CAD team) whilst collaborating with multiple stakeholders within the EDS department. Also An exciting opportunity that entails interacting and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Body, Chassis, Manufacturing, Vehicle Engineering, Program and Design, awaits. Work within Agile framework as developer to produce safe efficient, high-quality product contributing to the timely release of vehicle products that our customers will love.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Implementation of logical and mechanical data (Circuit, complexity, harness layout, coverings and fixings) into Capital XC in alignment with harness DFM requirements.
  • Create 2D drawings and related release package (Bill of material BOM, DSI files, 2D drawings) to the WH suppliers.
  • Take full ownership of the wiring harness design throughout the whole development process from initial concept to vehicle launch.
  • Liaise with other EDS functions (Circuits, complexity, 3D CAD) to resolve technical issues.
  • Managing changes of all the product in the development phase and in production phase.
  • Support purchasing team with technical data set.
  • Give support to the component team to be able to maintain the component database (Capital Library).
  • Support 3D team and circuit team in implementing DFM requirements in circuits and 3D harness design.
  • Support design clarifications with harness suppliers.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Essential:

  • Self-starter able to sustain a high, multitask workload.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Previous 2D harness drawing experience.
  • Previous automotive OEM or Tier1 supplier experience.
  • Ability to work within a team or alone with exceptional organisation skills and attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office tools.
  • Ability to collaborate cross‑functionally to solve complex geometric issues and influence decisions.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with Siemens / Mentor Graphics CAPITAL tools (XC) and (beneficial: 3DExperience).
  • Good understanding of wire harness construction and knowledge of its Low voltage and High voltage components.
  • Combine Engineering with business skills.

Desirable

  • Previous work within a multidiscipline Engineering team.
  • Experience of technical problem resolution.
  • A knowledge of System validation processes.
  • Understanding manufacturing process of Vehicles.
  • Experience with the following tools: CAPITAL XC and CATIA V6 (3DExperience).
