SEND Caseworker

Inclusion Service – Lancashire County Council
Salary: £28,142 – £32,061, Full Time, 37 hours per week

Location: Lancashire, (Hybrid / Countywide)

Make a Real Difference for Children and Young People Across Lancashire

Imagine starting a role where every conversation you have, every decision you make, and every relationship you build directly improves the life of a child or young person with special educational needs or disabilities. If that excites you—this is the perfect opportunity.

We’re investing in our Inclusion Service to strengthen how we support families, schools and settings across Lancashire. As a SEND Caseworker, you’ll be right at the heart of that mission. Your organisation, empathy and commitment to inclusion will help ensure young people get the right support at the right time—and you’ll see the impact of your work every single day.

About the Role

This is a dynamic, people‑focused administrative role where no two days look the same. You’ll provide essential coordination and organisational support by liaising closely with families, schools and multi‑agency partners, guiding them through statutory SEND processes and ensuring their voices are heard at every stage.

Your work will involve managing and administering key elements of the Education, Health and Care (EHC) process—coordinating needs assessments and annual reviews, preparing and maintaining documentation for SEND panels and case reviews, and acting as a trusted point of contact for service users and professionals. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining accurate digital records, supporting a designated group of educational settings, and helping the council deliver its statutory responsibilities under the Children and Families Act 2014 through effective administrative practice.

If you’re someone who thrives on structured processes, relationship‑building and meaningful work—this is a role where you can truly shine.

This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and committed people to join the Inclusion Service. There are a number of permanent SEND Caseworker posts available within the Inclusion Service, these posts are ideally suited to people who have an administrative background who would like to work in a busy supportive workplace.

As a SEND Caseworker you will provide efficient and effective administrative support which enables the Inclusion SEND Service to place children, young people and their families are at the centre of all practices and processes and ensure that the service is able to discharge its statutory duties in line with the SEND Code of Practice.

No matter what our job is at Lancashire County Council we are all working towards the same vision of making Lancashire the best place to live, work, visit and prosper.

The job description and person specifications outline the responsibilities and duties. You should demonstrate in your application how you meet each of the requirements.

If you have any questions or queries please contact Janette Hastings 01254 220883.

About You

You’ll bring experience in administrative or casework roles, ideally with people‑facing responsibilities. You’re confident managing a busy caseload, staying calm under pressure and communicating clearly with a wide range of audiences.

Most importantly, you care deeply about inclusive practice and safeguarding, and you’re ready to learn, grow and develop in a supportive team environment. An understanding of SEND processes is helpful—but if you're eager to learn, we’ll help you build that knowledge.

You’ll need GCSE grade 5 (or equivalent) in English and Maths
