Fluor is seeking an experienced Semiconductor Project Leader to provide strong technical and delivery leadership for semiconductor fab projects. This role requires a confident, client-facing professional capable of guiding internal teams while effectively engaging with clients to build trust and drive successful project outcomes.
The successful candidate will bring experience in leading MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Process) systems for base build and progressive build fab projects and will play a key role in positioning the Company as a trusted partner for high-value engineering and construction execution support.
The position will be based in Penang / Kulim area of Malaysia; preference will be given to local candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Provide clear leadership and direction to multidisciplinary project teams.
Foster a high-performance culture emphasizing accountability, quality, and delivery excellence.
Mentor and develop team members to build long-term organizational capability.
Client Engagement
Serve as a primary interface with clients, demonstrating confidence and credibility in technical and project discussions.
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand evolving project needs.
Proactively identify opportunities to expand Company’s role into higher-value technical and delivery scopes.
Technical Expertise (MEP / Semiconductor Fabs)
Oversee and guide MEP engineering and execution for semiconductor fab projects.
Apply deep knowledge of base build and progressive build methodologies in fab environments.
Ensure designs and installations meet industry standards, project specifications, and operational requirements.
Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical challenges.
Project Delivery & Execution
Drive overall project delivery performance in terms of schedule, cost, and quality.
Provide one-off, high-impact technical and delivery support for critical project needs.
Ensure alignment between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
Contribute to improving execution strategies and best practices for fab projects.
Business Growth & Positioning
Support the strategic positioning of the Company as a provider of advanced technical and delivery services.
Demonstrate capability through successful execution of targeted support assignments.
Identify and help secure new opportunities within existing and emerging semiconductor clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in semiconductor or advanced technology projects.
• Proven experience in MEP systems for semiconductor fabs, including:
• Strong understanding of base build and progressive build project execution models.
Key Competencies
• Leadership: Ability to inspire, guide, and align teams toward common goals.
• Client-Facing Confidence: Strong communication and presence in stakeholder engagements.
• Technical Depth: Deep experience with MEP engineering/construction, having deep expertise within at least one of those disciplines and ability to lead and coordinate a team of MEP engineers and designers.
• Delivery Focus: Proven ability to manage complex project challenges and deliver results.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify opportunities to expand service offerings and add value.
• Adaptability: Comfortable providing targeted, on-demand support across varying project needs.
• Experience working with global semiconductor clients.
• Background in EPC/EPCM project environments.
• Familiarity with EPC/EPCM processes and delivery models (advantageous).
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
