The SEL Campus Specialist recognizes and addresses school wide and individual social, emotional, and behavioral concerns that hinder academic growth. The SEL Campus Specialist provides campus level consultation to support the use of multi-tiered systems of support to address student social and emotional needs and promote mental health awareness. This position assists in implementation of systems and maintenance of social and emotional curriculum and campus program support

1. Identify and work effectively with students with emotional, social, and behavioral differences.
2. Provides professional development for school personnel on emotional/behavioral indicators, classroom modifications/accommodations, and structured intervention strategies.
3. Consults with teachers and relevant staff concerning the social and emotional needs of students.
4. Collects and monitors school and district data associated with social and emotional behavior and discipline.
5. Assesses student needs and recommends services to students according to individual social and emotional needs. In addition to facilitating groups, SEL targeted instruction and individual consultations.
6. Coordinates and conducts conferences with parents and students to align services and support services. Facilitates targeted groups, individual services and refocuses students.
7. Collaborates and consults with the central office departments, external organizations, the district offices school administrators and teachers to coordinate the implemenation of social and emotional activities.
8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree Required
3 to 5 years of teacher, professional school counselor, or social worker experience required.
Experience with students who have social and emotional challenges in an educational setting preferred.
Knowledgeable of comprehensive student discipline practices and de-escalation strategies.
Strong experience with developing and facilitating training and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

No supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff.
Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to campus based management on areas of significance to the school . Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.
No budget development activity is required.
Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude, but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.
Decisions have minor, small and possibly incremental impact on the department or facility. Errors are usually discovered in succeeding operations where most of the work is verified or checked and is normally confined to a single department or phase of the organizational activities resulting in brief inconvenience.
Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instructions and reporting results. Interactions are mostly with students, staff , own supervisor and coworkers in own and other departments.
Takes routine or required actions to meet student needs. Responds promptly and accurately to complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
