Job Description

Tom James Custom Clothing sales office in Southfield, MI is seeking a full-time Seamstress/Tailor or Master Tailor who excels in his or her trade and possesses a talent for delivering the finest tailored clothing with excellent attention to detail.Employees must be able to work quickly in a fast-paced office environment. Weekly hours for this position are 30-35. Compensation for this position will be hourly or piece rate depending on the candidate
Tailor Job Summary:Performs alterations as directed for our clients' high-end garments and delivers professionally finished garments on time.Demonstrates knowledge of fabric and standard tailoring concepts and procedures with quality workmanship for men's and women's garments.
Tailor Job Responsibilities and Duties:To make adjustments to men’s and women’s suits, shirts, coats, blazers, dresses, and trousers. Included, but not limited to:Shorten/lengthen sleevesTaper sides of garmentsLower collarsTake in/out trousers waistTake in/out seat and rise on pantsShorten/lengthen trousersTaper trouser thighs and foot widthsEnsure proper sizing of clientsManages all interactions with professionalismTracks detailed alteration production dailyPerforms alterations on all garments submitted for alteration, presses finished garment, removes threads, and completes for client-readyCompletes all work promptly to ensure customer delivery dateMaintains a clean work environment and maintains all required paperwork related to daily assignments
Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of tailoring experience in a retail or customer-service environmentStrong working knowledge of garment construction in men's and women's apparel and ability to perform high-quality workmanship including hand and by machineExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong attention to detailSelf-starterAble to perform multiple tasks efficiently with a strong organization of time
Working Conditions:- Standing or sitting for long periods- Fast-paced environment- Adhere to all policies as outlined in the Office Support Manual and all Company practices and procedures
