Summary

The Security Systems Operator serves as a vital member of the Corporate Security Operations Center, monitoring security and life safety systems, assessing alarms and incidents, and coordinating appropriate responses to protect APS employees, visitors, and assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to security, safety, and emergency alarms and incidents.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for Corporate Security calls and communications.
  • Assess and manage security situations, escalating and coordinating responses as needed.
  • Administer employee, contractor, and visitor access to APS facilities.
  • Monitor the status and functionality of security equipment and access control systems.
  • Support emergency response efforts and security breach investigations.
  • Utilize integrated security and life safety systems to maintain a safe and secure environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year prior experience in the areas of Customer Service, Security Services, or dispatch.
  • Security systems, operations and/or control center experience preferred.
  • Retention in position requires successful completion of the Corporate Security approved Security Systems Operator training program within 8 months of assignment.

Major Accountabilities

1) Follows prescribed security procedures and emergency plans in order to maintain security of corporate assets during assigned shifts.

2) Monitors a variety of life-safety, intrusion detection, access control and video monitoring systems.

3) Eliminates or minimizes potential security/safety problems by initiating responses to alarms or other security/safety alerts.

4) Serves as central point of contact for security matters during assigned shifts. Updates management and employees of the status of security situations by coordinating internal communications.

5) Documents and updates historical incident information through established reports/logs.

6) Develop a working knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and laws.

7) Utilize security systems to properly identify and gather information related to an incident or alert.

8) Supports the response to emergency/life-safety incidents and criminal, malicious or suspicious activity.

9) Dispatch law enforcement and/or security resources as directed by leader or more Sr, level security staff
