The Role

GrizzlyTrek is seeking one Security System Technician to join our valued client’s team in Prince George, British Columbia. This is a part time position, 2 to 3 days per week, paying $35.00 to $45.00 per hour.

You install, configure and service card access, intrusion monitoring, fire monitoring and CCTV systems. The work splits two ways. On new installations you make sure the system goes in properly, meets the client’s needs, and that the client knows how to use it. On existing systems you handle preventive maintenance, emergency maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and inspections.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform product installations, reconfigurations, removals and relocations, and complete site surveys as required
  • Attend to all service calls received from customers through the company dispatcher or directly, and contact the customer following the notification of each service call as per procedure
  • Repair defective equipment using various hand tools and measuring meters in order to restore it to proper working condition
  • Assure quality control by completing all scheduled preventive maintenance calls for assigned customer equipment in accordance with the terms of the service agreements
  • Provide technical and user support by directing and assisting clients in the operation of the products, assuring their most efficient use
  • Manage service call routing in order to maximize time utilization, and update the dispatcher on the status of all calls, completed or work in progress, on a per call basis
  • Diligently complete and submit work orders as per set procedures. Work orders completed at the client’s site must contain equipment serial numbers and be signed by the client’s designated authority
  • Maintain service vehicle stock of all parts, supplies and equipment, record all used stock on work orders, and participate in the quarterly inventory counts of vehicles and warehouses as required
  • Participate in training sessions as required in order to maintain adequate levels of skills and knowledge

What You Bring

  • Experience installing, configuring and servicing card access, intrusion monitoring, fire monitoring and CCTV systems
  • Working knowledge of DSC, UNV, DMP, ICT, Hanwha, Kantech and Brivo systems
  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and correctly using hand tools and measuring meters
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, working face to face with customers on their sites
  • Proficient writing skills for accurate work orders, service records and inspection reports
  • Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Successful completion of a criminal record check
  • Successful completion of a driver’s abstract review

Employment is conditional upon successfully meeting all of the pre-employment requirements listed above.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed at customer sites, travelling between calls in a service vehicle
  • A mix of new system installations and service on existing systems, including preventive maintenance, emergency maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and inspections
  • Service calls come in through the company dispatcher or directly from the customer, so the day is built around call routing and time utilization

What We Offer

  • $35.00 to $45.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
  • Life insurance: $100,000 employee, $10,000 spouse, $5,000 per child
