The Security Specialist – PHYSEC supports physical security operations that protect personnel, facilities, equipment, and sensitive materials from unauthorized access and potential threats. This role ensures compliance with established physical security standards by managing access control, visitor verification, and facility protection activities. It also maintains accurate records and coordinates visit requests for domestic and international locations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Security Specialist – PHYSEC maintains databases of classified visits, clearance levels, and access authorizations in support of physical security operations.
  • Security Specialist – PHYSEC receive, transmit, and file visit requests for personnel and visitors to CONUS, OCONUS, and international facilities.
  • Verify security clearances and program access to issue, track, and account for visitor badges and permanent personnel badges.
  • Sign in and maintain visitor access records using secure electronic systems and procedures.
  • Escort uncleared personnel within JPO spaces to ensure proper control and oversight of sensitive areas.
  • Process CAC applications and DD 2249s for Pentagon and JPO facility access and maintain related documentation.
  • Process all required JPO in‑processing documents and forms to support personnel onboarding.
  • Security Specialist – PHYSEC manage and monitor Foreign Visit System activities and track international visits as directed by the Government.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of physical security policies, access control standards, visitor management procedures, and domestic/international facility access requirements.
  • Skilled in verifying clearance levels, managing visit requests, and maintaining secure records for classified and controlled spaces.
  • Ability to process access credentials, escort uncleared personnel, and apply physical security safeguards in compliance with Government regulations.
  • Skilled in using secure electronic systems to track visitors, document access events, and maintain accurate facility records.
  • Ability to coordinate domestic and international visit requirements while supporting facility security operations across multiple locations.

Minimum/General Experience:

  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience.

Minimum Education:

  • Master's Degree in relevant field; or a bachelor's degree and 4 additional years of relevant work experience.
  • Physical Security Certification (PSC) within one year of hire.
