The Security Specialist – Insider Threat develops and supports program activities designed to deter, detect, and mitigate risks posed by insider threats. This role enhances organizational security through analysis, incident response, and coordinated protective measures. It also works closely with cybersecurity personnel to strengthen the program's overall counter‑insider threat posture.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Security Specialist – Insider Threat develops a Counter Insider Threat Program that incorporates deterrence, detection, and mitigation strategies to address potential insider risks.
  • Security Specialist – Insider Threat provide insider threat detection analysis by reviewing behavioral indicators, operational anomalies, and relevant security reporting.
  • Perform security incident management actions, including documentation, coordination, and recommended response procedures.
  • Support Active Shooter Awareness and Prevention efforts through training coordination and preparedness activities.
  • Coordinate closely with JPO cybersecurity personnel to integrate counter‑insider threat practices into broader cyber and security operations.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and tracking related to insider threat reviews, incidents, and program activities.
  • Participate in meetings, working groups, and security reviews to enhance insider threat program development.
  • Security Specialist – Insider Threat assist Government personnel with implementing policies, guidelines, and mitigation actions associated with insider threat indicators.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of counter‑insider threat frameworks, behavioral indicators, security incident response processes, and protective methodologies.
  • Skilled in analyzing insider threat data, identifying potential risks, and recommending appropriate mitigation or investigative actions.
  • Ability to coordinate with cybersecurity teams and integrate insider threat monitoring into holistic security operations.
  • Skilled in preparing clear and accurate reports, incident documentation, and analytical assessments that support insider threat decisions.
  • Ability to support prevention programs, including awareness activities and preparedness actions related to insider‑related violence or security incidents.
  • Specialized experience with flag-officer level briefings and senior-level interface.

Minimum/General Experience:

  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience.

Minimum Education:

  • Master's Degree in relevant field; or a bachelor's degree and 4 additional years of relevant work experience.
