Job Description

This position is responsible for providing service to Harrah’s Voodoo guests by ensuring a safe and fun environment.

  • Greets guests quickly and courteously using Total Service skills.

  • Checks to make sure patron identification meets necessary age requirements for entry into Voodoo.

  • Maintains communication with Supervisor or Manager regarding occupancy levels.

  • Patrols Voodoo to preserve order among patrons and protect property.

  • May circulate among patrons to prevent improper dancing or similar activities, and to detect persons annoying other patrons or damaging furnishings of establishment.

  • Warns patrons of infractions and contacts Security Dispatch if they become unruly.

  • Must wand all patrons and inspect bags upon guests entering the VooDoo Lounge.

  • May be required to perform Security Officer responsibilities in addition to above listed items.

  • Identify intoxicated guest and have them removed

  • Observe servers and bartenders for over serving of alcohol.

  • Applies First Aid as deemed appropriate to employees and guests and provides immediate, lifesaving, medical care as necessary

Knowledge, Skills & Education Preferred

High school graduate or equivalent. Clean felony conviction status. Must be 21 years of age. Must posses a valid driver’s license from their state of residence. Must present a well-groomed appearance. A background check will be conducted on all candidates before an offer is made.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to walk, work and stand, inside and outside, occasionally in heat in excess of 115 degrees or cold in excess of 10 degrees.

  • Able to physically restrain adults in excess of 200 pounds.

  • Able to respond calmly in crisis and stressful situations.

  • Able to work independently.

  • Able to stoop, bend, jump, twist, crouch, grip and carry heavy loads and maneuver quickly on level surfaces, as well as up and down stairs.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.

  • Must be able to push or pull up to 150 pounds.

  • Able to respond to visual and aural cues.

  • Able to speak, read and understand English.

  • Able to see and also remember the specific details of incidents and persons.

  • Must be able to make rational decisions when handling guests and employees.

  • Ability to tolerate area’s containing secondary smoke.

  • Must be able to lift above the head occasionally.

  • Able to write legible to provide accurate report documentation.

Licensing and Certification Required

Employees may be required to obtain a Missouri Gaming Commission license. The initial license is paid for by the employee. All subsequent renewals for the license are paid by Harrah’s North Kansas City.
