Security Site Supervisor - Position

Location: Edmonton area

We are seeking a Security Site Supervisor for the Edmonton area.

Shifts are Mon, Thu, Fri and Sat from 1230 to 2030 and Sun from 1030 to 1830

Pay rate: $22.95 per hour

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Oversight and Scheduling

  • Ensure schedules meet property needs and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure all security personnel maintain a high level of professionalism and complete required training programs on time.
  • Optimize patrol routes and security operations as needed.
  • Ensure the deployment remains within budget for both standard and event operations.
  • Provide shift coverage, when necessary, with reasonable notice and in line with company policies.
  • Conducting tenant visit reports ensuring the retailer's security needs are addressed and promoting partnerships

Training and Development

  • Conduct emergency drills for the property, including security teams, mall administration, and tenants.
  • Create and update Job Safety Analyses (JSA), On-the-Job Training (OJT) materials, and other site-specific training resources.

Site Inspections and Audits

  • Conduct monthly site inspections and report deficiencies or safety risks.
  • Conduct audits on security personnel to ensure delivery of superior customer service to all visitors.

Incident Management and Response

  • Assist dispatch with incident investigations.
  • Respond to incidents such as fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions, following procedures established for the site and commensurate with the level of training provided.
  • Protect evidence or incident scenes during accidents, emergencies, or investigations, ensuring proper procedures are followed.

Client and Tenant Relations

  • Conducting tenant visit reports ensuring the retailer's security needs are addressed and promoting partnerships.
  • Visit tenants to stay informed about shoplifting incidents and provide support.
  • Collaborate with established partnerships, including retailer Loss Prevention Managers (LPMs), Police, Fire, and EMS departments.
  • Conduct quarterly Retail Awareness Committee meetings.
  • Attend weekly meetings with client teams.
  • Prepare and submit reports for client as required.
  • Review financial reports with management.

Leadership and Support

  • Assist Site Manager with various projects and assume their responsibilities when necessary.
  • Ensure all projects are completed prior to deadlines.
  • Maintain focus and awareness in high-pressure environments, including those with noise, crowds, and time-sensitive situations, to make effective decisions in both routine and crisis scenarios.
  • Monitor and report activities and incidents to ensure the safety and security of client property, assets, and personnel.
  • Preserve order and enforce site regulations and directives for personnel, visitors, and premises.
  • Satisfy client needs by providing excellent customer service while minimizing risk to the client's property and assets.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Class 5 non GDL (Graduate driver’s license)
  • Ability to delegate tasks.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite. IE: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Photoshop experience is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of security operations and procedures
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports.
  • Able to walk, stand, and conduct patrols.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Use of Force certification is an asset

MINIMUM HIRING STANDARDS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have valid provincial Security Guard License
  • First Aid and CPR is a requirement for this site
  • Must have a reliable means of communication (i.e., pager or phone).
  • Must have a reliable means of transportation (public or private).
  • Must have the legal right to work in Canada.
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English and French in the province of Quebec.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED. If not, must be willing to complete the GED program within six months.
  • Must be willing to participate in the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including a background investigation.

Education/Experience:

  • H.S. diploma or G.E.D., and 3 years in security supervisor role or experience sufficient to meet the requirements of the assigned site, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, as determined by the company.

Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing):

  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable licensing requirements for Security Guards.
  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications, or authorizations specified for the assigned site.
  • Knowledge of security operations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
  • Ability to provide positive direction and motivate performance.
  • Understanding of a variety of security and safety devices and controls.
  • Ability to learn quickly and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  • Ability to track and maintain schedule assignments.
  • Ability to be an effective team member.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances.
  • Courteous telephone manner.
  • Ability to adapt to various sites and changes in post procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service and results orientation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients at various social levels and across diverse cultures.

  • Keyboarding, basic computer usage, and operating controls.
  • Seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients, observe and report incidents, and direct others.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.
  • Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, and additional lifting and/or moving ability as might be required for the assigned site.
  • Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to use a vehicle for the performance of duties.
  • On occasion, may be required to perform stressful and physical activity.
  • Depending upon assignment, may be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of protective gear and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and the safety of others.
  • May be exposed to or required to handle sensitive and confidential information.
