The incumbent in this position is responsible for managing the daily activities of the Security Department on assigned shift to ensure the safety and security of patrons and employees, as well as the safeguarding of all Belterra Park property. Also ensures that all potential security violations are investigated and corrective actions are taken.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

(These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position)

Responsible for training, motivating, evaluating, and supervising staff on assigned shift to ensure employees receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established objectives.

  1. Understands department objectives, standards, guidelines, and budget to achieve effective supervision of department.
  2. Establishes and maintains training and development procedures to ensure extraordinary guest service standards are achieved.
  3. Ensures that proper arrest procedures and detainment techniques are carried out in violations of criminal law.
  4. Ensures that all company and departmental procedures are followed; assists various local, state and federal authorities in various activities and investigations to ensure that procedures and laws are observed.
  5. Maintains current information on local criminal activity, etc., to ensure the protection of company assets, guests and team members; develops and maintains communications with law enforcement agencies and security personnel of other gaming facilities.
  6. Resolves guest complaints and ensures that the highest level of guest service is rendered at all times.
  7. Provides support to departmental management in the event of sensitive and/or dangerous situations involving terminations, thefts, team member or guest issues, etc.
  8. Responsible for transportation of "for cause” drug/alcohol testing, as needed.
  9. Conducts training classes on various topics such as: CPR, First-Aid, Bomb Search & Recognition, Disaster Planning and Evacuation, investigation of accidents, etc.
  10. Maintains a high level of awareness as to criminal and civil laws as it pertains to Belterra Park and conducts investigations where required.
  11. Prepare complete and accurate reports to ensure that management is kept abreast of security related incidents.
  12. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPR and Blood Borne Pathogens Certification, preferred.

This knowledge and these abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school education, or equivalent, as well as two years progressive experience in security operations. Management experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

Ability to maintain all Regulatory licenses within assigned state of employment

Must successfully pass background check

Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

Knowledge of / Ability to:

  • Basic knowledge of Ohio civil and criminal laws.
  • Basic knowledge of Ohio Lottery and Gaming Commission regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of county and state ordinances.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronic, video, and alarm functions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indiana laws pertaining to citizens’ powers of arrest procedures.
  • Valid driver's license, preferred
  • This position spends a majority of on-duty time standing and/or walking in public areas of the property, including but not limited to, the gaming floor, pavilion, restaurants, meeting spaces, rooming areas, parking lots, and grounds.
  • Must be able to effectively and efficiently transverse stairs, uneven surfaces, varied flooring surfaces and ground coverings while patrolling, responding to calls for service or emergency situations.
  • Ability to compose, review and comprehend, clear, concise and accurate reports.
  • Must be able to identify and quickly respond to potential problems, altercations and conflicts and defend self and others in combative situations.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs, move money boxes, carts and drop equipment as necessary.
  • Must be able to assist sick or injured guests and/or employees.
  • Ability to communicate courteously, effectively, and professionally with guests, outside contacts and all levels of employees.
  • Must be able to use tools and equipment, including but not limited to, keys, handcuffs, flashlights, radios, computers and other tools specific to the position.
  • Must be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
  • Ability to perform duties under varying conditions, including but not limited to, exposure to varying levels of smoke, crowds, noise, and changing weather conditions.
