Job Description

Under the general supervision of Department of Public Safety Sergeant and Corporal, the Security Officer, provides the highest level of public safety services to the Augustine Band of Cahuilla Indians by preventing crime and ensuring the protection of life, property, and assets through engagement and enforcement of applicable policies, laws and ordinances on the Augustine Reservation. The Security Officer must possess the ability to balance public service while protecting the interest and assets of the Tribe.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assigned to stationary or patrol duties on the reservation including Tribal businesses and offices.
  • Respond to calls for service and emergencies
  • Conduct investigations and exclude individuals from tribal property for violations of policy, laws, and to prevent the interruption of tribal business.
  • Prepares reports of criminal and non-criminal incidents.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and assist in rendering appropriate aid
  • Assist in patrolling the gaming facility and ensuring the protection of life, property and assets.

Requirements

Must be a minimum 21 years of age Experience: A minimum of 1-year of current security work experience and/or police or military service. Experience working with Federally Recognized Native American Tribes is highly preferred. Experience working in a Casino a plus.

Education: High School diploma or GED. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Competent with Microsoft computer software and standard office equipment. Completion of the PC 832 course and knowledge of Public Law 280 is highly desirable.

Licenses, Certifications and other Qualifications:

  • California BSIS Security Guard Card
  • Valid California Driver’s license
  • Clean Driving Record
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (preferred, not required)

Gaming License Information: In order to be hired and remain employed with the Augustine Band of Cahuilla Indians, all individuals who have the conditional offer of employment extended to them must successfully complete an extensive background investigation process in order to obtain their Gaming License. Listed below are items that may have an adverse effect on your suitability to hold a gaming license. If any of the following apply to you, please contact Human Resources.

  • Felony conviction
  • Theft conviction
  • Misdemeanor conviction involving any of the following:
  • Forgery
  • Extortion
  • Conspiracy to defraud
  • Gambling activities
  • Willful failure to make required payments, or filing false reports with governmental agencies
  • Bribing or unlawfully influencing a public officer or employee
  • Crime involving dishonesty, or moral turpitude*
  • Embezzlement
  • Violent crime
  • A registered sex offender.
  • Current prosecution or pending charge or conviction under appeal for any of the above offenses.

* Moral turpitude is defined as 1. Conduct that is believed to be contrary to community standards of honesty, good morals, or justice. 2. A quality of dishonesty or other immorality that is determined by a court to be present in the commission of a criminal offense.
