Job Description

The Security Operations Specialist II assists in the supervision of the security team to ensure the physical safety of all visitors, employees, and vendors to Home Office, to include the security of property and assets. This is done through the administration, coordination, and evaluation of security programs that support the strategy, policies, and standards established for physical safety. Assigns security staff to patrol and inspect buildings and grounds. Works with security staff to compile data and analyzes results of audits, inspections, daily logs, and incident reports to assess security vulnerabilities, measure program effectiveness, identify the need for additional resources, and make recommendations to Director of Security. Assist in training security staff on policies and procedures for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Updates team on local, state, provincial, or federal security-related information, directives, and events. Assist with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with company management, law enforcement and other officials. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and participates in greeting and assisting employees, visitors, vendors, and contractors while managing visitor check-in, badging, and access control to ensure a professional, secure, and welcoming entry experience. Oversees and monitors building access, patrol shifts (participating if needed), responding to incidents, and providing safety escorts to maintain a safe and controlled environment.
  • Document incidents, report unsafe conditions, assist with emergency procedures and drills, and provide basic first aid as needed to support safety and emergency preparedness. Manages deliveries and assist with high-value or sensitive items to ensure proper handling and security.
  • Support special events, visitor surges, and temporary operational need to maintain order, safety, and a positive experience during non-routine activities, while maintaining professional conduct and situational awareness throughout all shifts.
  • Oversees day-to-day security operations on shift in the absence of the Director of Security to maintain continuity, consistency, and effective coverage for all required functions.
  • Manages daily post assignments, patrol coverage, and break rotations to ensure continuous operational coverage and effective use of personnel during each shift.
  • Monitors access control systems, visitor management processes, and building entry activity to ensure compliance with policies and to prevent unauthorized access throughout the facility.
  • Conducts and schedules routine patrols of facility and surrounding campus areas to identify safety hazards, security concerns, and irregular conditions on a continuous basis.
  • Responds to and assists with safety, medical, and security incidents to provide immediate support, stabilize situations, and coordinate response actions as needed.
  • Provide guidance and support to Security Operations Specialist (SOS) personnel during daily operations to promote consistency, reinforce procedures, and maintain professional standards.
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of reports, logs, and documentation to maintain clear records and effective communication of operational information.
  • Identifies operational issues, safety concerns, and process gaps and communicates them to Director of Security to support continuous improvement and risk reduction.
  • Maintains professional presence, situational awareness, and decision-making capability while on post to ensure a consistent, reliable presence during all assigned shifts.
  • Assists in developing and adjusting shift schedules and coverage plans to support continuous operations and address staffing needs as directed.
  • Assist in reviewing, updating, and maintaining post orders and standard operating procedures to support accuracy, consistency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Participates in testing and validating security procedures, systems, and response protocols to ensure readiness and effectiveness during routine operations and drills.
  • Supports onboarding and on-the-job training of new SOS personnel to reinforce procedures, expectations, and operational standards.
  • Assists in preparing for and supporting safety drills, exercises, and special events to maintain readiness and effective coordination during non-routine activities.
  • Provides input and feedback to Director of Security regarding operational trends, concerns, and improvement opportunities to support continuous program development.
  • Supports consistent professional standards of customer services, appearance, and conduct among SOS personnel to reinforce a positive workplace environment and protect the company’s brand and reputation during daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in security management, Emergency Management, Risk Management, etc. or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ successful experience in customer-facing, security or safety roles, with preference for structured, professional environments.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ successful experience operating security systems (CCTV, radios, telephone), including Identity Management Software.
  • Adult First Aid/CPR/AED certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic security, security principles, access control, visitor management, emergency response, and workplace safety.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills for professional interaction and documentation.
  • Attention to detail and observation skills to identify hazards and security concerns.
  • Ability to successfully apply de-escalation techniques and sound judgment in conflict situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain situational awareness, remain calm under pressure, and make sound decisions in dynamic environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all organizational levels and consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and sound judgement.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all licenses, permits, certifications, and credentials required to perform the duties of the position, including any applicable security guard licensing required by local jurisdictions within 45 days of hire is required.
  • Following a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to successfully complete a job-related Physical Fitness Assessment designed to evaluate the ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position, in accordance with applicable law.

Work Environment

This role is an on-site role and part of the Home Office team. The primary environment for this role is an open office. Considerable business is conducted using the telephone and computer technology. Travel to stores, conferences, or events may be required but is limited to less than 5% of the time.

Base Pay range for this role is $36.25 - $51.00/hour. Your placement in the range is determined through interviews, a review of experience, knowledge, skills, balanced pay with other team members and alignment with geographic market data.  Home office base pay ranges are based on the Denver market. We target most new hire offers toward the lower end of the listed range, but more demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills may result in a higher starting rate.

Beyond Base Pay: Home office positions are eligible for consideration for an annual bonus, based on total company performance. Amounts vary by role and are based on a percentage of eligible earnings for the fiscal year.
