Security Operations Liaison Representative

The Electric Boat Security Department has an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to serve as the Security Operations Liaison with the shipyard operations department. Daily shipyard production relies on careful planning, frequent communication, and regular interaction between all departments and organizations within Electric Boat and the Government. Each new construction ship is managed by a leadership team consisting of Ships Management, Test, Engineering, Program Office, Operations, Planning, Ships Force and SOSG who are directly responsible for the ship’s construction and the achievement of key construction milestones, major moves, test key events, crew integration, certification and delivery.

This position presents a unique opportunity to be a contributing member of this team and directly support the ship’s progression through final assembly, outfitting, test, and delivery. This is a high visibility position to shipyard and senior leadership. This role will require engagement with all levels of management to report progress, seek assistance, and manage activities. Engagement will be throughout the waterfront organizations including Plant Protection, Planning, Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Test, Contracts, Finance, Ship’s Force and SOSG. A flexible schedule and overtime work are required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Represent the Security Department at Ships Managers meetings, daily startup, plan of the day, shift turnover, and specific issue meetings.
  • Interface with trades, Nuclear Test, RADCON, Inspection, Engineering, Ship’s Force, RPCO and NRRO.
  • Coordinate with the operations, advance planning, and engineering departments to identify when classified evolutions are scheduled during the construction process.
  • Develop security plans for the protection of classified material, ensure all required physical security safeguard requirements are met.
  • Work with Plant Protection to establish and maintain a clear understanding of security controls required for sensitive, classified, and NNPI material.
  • Ensure Security components, including Plant Protection & Industrial Security Office (ISO), are apprised of the physical security conditions required for the protection of classified material, including NNPI.
  • Communicate with shipyard construction organizations on the identification and prioritization of shipyard movements as they relate to security actions and requirements
  • Ensure employee/contractor movements are in accordance with the Plant Protection physical security plan
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating all required instructions, documents, records, and logs

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Associates degree (or above) in security -OR- 3+ years of work experience in the field of Security
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance from the DoD (department of defense)

Preferred:

  • Experience or working knowledge of the compliance requirements of the NISPOM, the EB Security Manual, and other applicable guidance sources
  • Experience conducting inspections or audits and presenting the results
  • Experience administering security education and awareness training
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies and practices

Skills

  • Work independently in a fast-paced and challenging environment and have experience working on multi-functional teams; and
  • Possess strong problem solving skills, writing/presentation skills, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with the Electric Boat shipyard and production operations
