The Security Operations Analyst monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of security controls, investigates threats, and supports incident response efforts across systems and networks. This role enhances vulnerability and threat management processes, applies structured analytic techniques, and communicates risk insights to IT leadership. It also contributes to broader security initiatives, including architecture and standards development.
Responsibilities:
Analyzes, evaluates and tests the effectiveness of existing security controls
Monitors systems for attempts to circumvent existing security controls by both internal employees and external threat actors.
Communicates the effectiveness of security controls to IT leadership and the business.
Execute and improve vulnerability management processes (secure code review, penetration testing, red teaming, vulnerability assessment, etc.).
Execute and improve threat management and cyber incident response processes (SIEM response, blacklist management, Endpoint Detection and Response management, investigations, etc.).
Apply appropriate structured analytic thinking techniques to routine operations and to processes for continuous improvement.
Supports security standards, security architecture, project related work, and other Information Security functions.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
5+ years’ security experience
Ability to perform under pressure and handle multiple priorities
Solid understanding of security applied to OS, applications, networking, cloud, mobile, etc.
Experience organizing multidisciplinary groups and organizations through security incidents is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
CISSP CISA, GCIH, CEH, OSCP, etc.
Master’s degree in relevant field
Experience handling significant cyber incidents
Business Intelligence and Analytics
Python or other methods to automate and orchestrate
Applied Neural Network Solutions
Applied skills in Security Orchestration and Automated Response
