Job Description

Role Purpose

To monitor the functionalities of all security systems & equipment on daily basis, handle the issues of the systems with the concerned departments until get resolved, in addition to review and ensure adherence of the security systems specifications to the approved reference in SANS.

Key Accountability Areas

Key Activities

Security Systems Management

  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of security systems, including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and alarm systems.
  • Ensure all security systems function properly, conducting routine checks and coordinating repairs or updates with technical teams as needed.
  • Collaborate with IT and technical departments to troubleshoot and resolve system issues promptly, minimizing security vulnerabilities.
  • Manage access control systems, ensuring that only authorized personnel have access to restricted airport areas.
  • Handling the CCTV and access systems requests and reports.
  • Engage in all security projects in terms of providing the approved specifications security requirements, testing and handover phases.
  • Evaluate the supplier’s proposals related to security systems & equipment.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of preventive and corrective maintenance plan for the security systems & equipment. and ensure its implementation as planned.
  • Act as focal point of contact for the security operation center in terms of security systems failures

Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of security incidents, system maintenance logs, access control activities, and audit findings.
  • Generate periodic reports on security system performance, incident trends, and compliance status for senior management review.
  • Analyze security data to identify patterns, areas for improvement, and emerging security risks.

Incident Response and Investigation:

  • Serve as a key contact for security incidents, coordinating response activities to ensure timely and effective mitigation.
  • Respond to security incidents promptly, coordinating with internal security teams, law enforcement, and other emergency responders as needed.
  • Conduct investigations into security breaches, compiling reports on findings and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Support incident management and emergency response drills to test readiness and improve response times.

Process Improvement

and Efficiency Management

  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes considering leading practices, changes in business environment, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
  • Report and analyze past incidents, occurrences and the latest trends in security management related to SANS business to draft proposals for driving process improvements
  • Participating in coming up with new trends/technologies in improving existing systems and processes

Compliance

  • Ensure all security operations comply with approved security policy and manual
  • Participate in internal and external audits and inspections, addressing any findings and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Keep up to date with changing aviation security regulations, incorporating new requirements into existing security protocols.
  • Conducting physical system inspections, monitoring system performance and alarms, identifying and tracking system deficiencies and taking corrective action if any system components fail.
  • Regular review to ensure compliance with government regulations and internal approved specifications in terms of security systems requirements, and guidelines.
  • Conduct regular audits of access control logs, identifying and addressing any unauthorized access or suspicious activities.

Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Work with external vendors responsible for maintaining security systems, ensuring all equipment is fully operational and well-maintained.
  • Collaborate with other airport departments, and government agencies to align on shared security protocols and response measures.
  • Serve as a liaison with law enforcement and regulatory agencies, facilitating inspections and investigations as necessary.

Training and Security Awareness:

  • Conduct security training sessions for airport staff, contractors, and other stakeholders to promote awareness of protocols and emergency response procedures.
  • Ensure all staff understand security expectations and know how to use access control and surveillance systems effectively.
  • Organize regular security drills to test staff preparedness for handling security incidents and emergencies.

Policies, Processes and Procedures

  • Conduct day-to-day activities while ensuring compliance to policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes taking into account leading practices, changes in business environment, cost reduction and productivity improvement

Knowledge and Experience

  • No prior or minimum years of experience in security operations and systems within aviation sector is required.

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field is required.
  • Certification in Security Management or Systems is preferable.
