Job Description

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for passengers, tenants, employees, visitors, and property at the Grand Turk Cruise Center. This role requires vigilance, professionalism, and a strong customer‑service mindset while enforcing security protocols, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, and may be amended from time to time:

  • Ensure the safety and security of cruise passengers, tenants, employees, authorized personnel, and guests within the GTCC premises.
  • Maintain a visible security presence through regular patrols of assigned areas.
  • Control and direct vehicular traffic to designated parking and access areas.
  • Prevent unauthorized access to restricted or secured areas.
  • Observe, report, and document any unusual activities, safety hazards, or security breaches to the Security Manager.
  • Prevent animals from entering or accessing GTCC facilities and grounds.
  • Assist cruise passengers with general inquiries and matters to the extent possible while maintaining security priorities.
  • Monitor for suspicious behavior and take appropriate action to prevent vandalism, theft, or damage to property.
  • Ensure tenant compliance with established Policy Manuals, including regulations related to merchandise deliveries and waste disposal.
  • Coordinate and communicate with local law enforcement and emergency services as directed by the Security Manager.
  • Accurately complete reports, logs, and other security‑related documentation as required.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and standards established by the Grand Turk Cruise Center.
  • Provide professional, courteous customer service and represent the Nation of the Turks and Caicos Islands with integrity and respect at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Security Manager or as required for business operations.

Language Requirements

  • Ability to speak English clearly, professionally, and courteously with guests, employees, and management.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English sufficiently to interpret written procedures, complete reports, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to effectively give and receive verbal and written instructions and respond to inquiries from guests, supervisors, and co‑workers.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, patrol, reach, bend, and use hands and arms regularly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual acuity, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • All island employees must be physically capable of participating in emergency response and lifesaving procedures and drills. This requires a full range of motion of arms and legs, as well as sufficient visual, verbal, and hearing abilities to receive and relay instructions during emergencies.
