General Summary:

Responsible for the safety and security of all people and property in and around the facilities. The Security Officer will make periodic checks of the properties to ensure the safety and security of all persons and properties. The Security Officer is always aware of his/her surroundings, watching for any type of illegal occurrences, fire or other hazardous conditions. Responds to emergency situations to assist parties in need.

Essential Functions:

  • Protects and serves the patients, staff and visitors of FTMC.
  • Monitors medical center buildings and grounds to maintain a safe and secure environment and takes appropriate action to resolve problems. Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
  • Investigates incidents, accidents, or complaints on medical center property; deter criminal activity and misconduct, investigate suspicious situations, conduct patrol tours.
  • Completes the necessary reports accurately and in a timely manner. Communicate by use of 2-way radios.
  • Coordinates with local police and fire departments. Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Conducts general safety inspections of building and grounds and visual inspections of Life Safety equipment.
  • Provides physical intervention when needed to subdue or restrain persons to protect individuals from harm.
  • Responds to Code Violet calls.
  • Operates detecting devices and performs searches to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas. Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate client requirements.
  • Provides physical security of medical center buildings and property. Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits. Knowledge of employee ID badge system.
  • Warns persons of rule infractions or violations and evicts violators from premises, using force when necessary.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for continued growth, competence, and development.
  • Assists patients, visitors and employees.
  • Provides personal assistance, first aid, emotional support or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers or patients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Security Supervisor or Manager.
