
Security Officer

Security is responsible for providing the physical protection of Baptist Health assets, including people, property, reputation, and information.
Receiving general direction from the Security Director, Coordinator, or designee, enforces Hospital regulations, provides a safe and secure environment for hospital patients, visitors and employees. The Security Officer will enforce hospital policies and security regulations through active monitoring and patrolling of Baptist property by continuously watching and reporting of potential safety hazards and unusual occurrences. As determined by supervisory personnel, the Security officer investigates complaints or potential criminal conduct; assists in restraining patients as necessary; provides protective services.
Maintains a safe and secure environment through patrols, access control, monitoring, and enforcement of security policies.
Responds to security incidents, emergencies, behavioral concerns, and crisis situations, providing assistance and coordinating additional support when needed.
Assists patients, visitors, staff, and flight crews through escorts, helipad operations, and customer service activities.
Conducts routine security inspections, identifies hazards, and takes corrective action to address safety and security concerns.
Monitors CCTV systems and security equipment to identify, respond to, and document suspicious or unsafe activity.
Investigates incidents, gathers information, documents findings, and reports offenses to appropriate authorities
Maintains accurate records, duty logs, incident reports, and required documentation within hospital systems.
Supports emergency preparedness, life safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and required training programs.
Collaborates with clinical and operational teams to promote a safe environment and effective hospital operations.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
No prior experience required
Security education preferred
Security, military, and/or law enforcement experience preferred.
Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS), Aegis, and Taser 7 certifications within 90 days of hire.
Must obtain Basic International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) certification within 6 months of hire.
