Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Security Officer to join the Campus Safety and Security Team on a Casual basis. If you like being part of a professional team, with a focus on ensuring our people are learning and working in a safe secure environment, then come and join our whanau.

The role will be responsible for supporting the university’s core function by having a focus on people and their safety and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the university environment is safe and secure.
• Provide customer-centric services for all university users.
• Maintaining a strong security for safety culture.
• Responding to and managing security incidents and emergencies.
• Completing risk assessments, developing, and implementing robust risk mitigation plans.
• Providing advice, guidance, and direction to the users of the University environments, including students, staff and visitors.

You will thrive in this role with a professional manner with people, an ability to influence and manage conflict, great communication skills, and strong attention to detail.

Key Requirements:

• Outstanding people and communication skills including the ability to adjust to different situations.
• Ability to assess risk and develop strategies to reduce risk.
• Being a team player as well as having individual responsibilities.
• Previous security experience is desirable but not essential.
• Computer skills in Word and Microsoft.
  

We are looking for people who can work a 24/7 roster, are reliable, flexible with working hours, quick learning and has a good standard of physical fitness.
