Job Shift: AdministrativeThe Security Officer serves as a vital part of the hospital’s safety and support infrastructure, working to protect patients, staff, visitors, and property. This position is responsible for ensuring a secure and welcoming environment through a combination of surveillance monitoring, physical patrols, emergency response, and customer service. Security Officers provide a visible presence, enforce hospital policies, and respond promptly to any safety or security incidents.
Officers are expected to demonstrate strong situational awareness, effective communication, and sound judgment while navigating a healthcare setting with compassion and professionalism. This role extends beyond the main hospital building to include clinics, outpatient facilities, parking areas, and all grounds maintained by Bethany Children’s Health Center. By maintaining a consistent presence and building trusted relationships with hospital departments, the Security Officer plays a crucial role in preserving a healing environment and upholding the mission and values of the organization.

Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act (OMMA), a safety sensitive position is defined as any job that includes tasks or duties that the employer believes could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others. This statute allows Bethany Children’s Health Center to refuse to hire an applicant or discharge an employee in a safety-sensitive position, who tests positive for marijuana even if the applicant or employee holds a valid Oklahoma medical marijuana license.
