Anticipated Hiring Range: $21.00 - $25.25 hourly
Full Pay Range: $21.00 - $29.50 hourly
This position is part-time at 19.50 hours per week and is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek. Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.

About the Position
The Part-Time Security Officer performs routine security services in library buildings, including patrol services, assistance with emergency services, and operational functions to maintain the safety and security of the staff and general public.
This is a part-time position that will provide coverage for our Georgia T. Lord Library.

We Require
One year of security, law enforcement, public safety, or customer-intensive public service experience
High school diploma or GED
Other Requirements
Within 3 months of hire, candidate will be required to complete a series of on-the-job library customer service and situational awareness trainings to assist with de-escalation, safety, and security techniques
Must complete a background check and fingerprint identification upon hire to secure and maintain an Identity Verified Print (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
Job Contributions
Conduct frequent patrols of the library (interior and exterior)
Listen and watch for escalated situations and be prepared to assist staff when necessary
Assist with library opening and closing duties
Ensure that customers are adhering to behavior expectations/code of conduct
Respond to staff requests for assistance as needed
Assist staff with trespass situations
Respond to security gate alarms
Greet customers as they enter the library
Complete customer incident reports as needed
Assist customers with weapons locker use (if applicable)
Submit daily activity reports to branch manager
Working Conditions
Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, or requires walking or standing to a significant degree
Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
Work is performed at a security station and will require frequent walking and patrolling assigned facilities
