Position: Security Officer
Department: Security
Responsible for the protection and safety of all CDS property assets, guests, and team members.
Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):
- Patrols assigned areas actively and continuously to provide overall asset protection of Gaming Enterprise property and guest/team member safety.
- Provides greeting services at guest entry points and inspects packages as people enter and leave the building, as appropriate.
- Checks identification of all guests who appear to be under the legal age to either gamble or consume alcoholic beverages.
- Performs crowd control for events and assists with directing traffic and parking.
- Conducts interviews with witnesses or victims and generates necessary written reports regarding security-related incidents such as theft, injury, or property damage.
- Operates a two-way portable radio to coordinate and dispatch information to all other radio users.
- Escorts people and/or property when necessary to ensure safe transport of Gaming Enterprise monies, gaming assets, and team members.
- Identifies potential safety hazards and reports them to appropriate individuals for proper resolution.
- Interacts with guests and team members in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Operates company vehicles to conduct business when directed to do so.
- Participates in mandatory security-related training such as learning how to administer first aid and emergency response procedures as well as other programs required of Gaming Enterprise employees.
- Maintains a working knowledge of the Gaming Enterprise facilities as well as special events on property in order to advise guests and fellow team members.
- Maintains a working knowledge of emergency action procedures to efficiently handle situations such as fires, evacuations, and robbery attempts.
- Facilitates the flow of information and keeps abreast of changes by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
- Provides courteous service and is cordial to all team members and guests.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential functions of the position:
- Must be able to lift, carry, and transport materials and/or equipment on a frequent basis up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to reach, pull, kneel, squat, twist, and bend for duties.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to travel to other CDS properties, or any other events necessary for this specific role.
- Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate with all guests and team members in a positive and professional manner.
- Must be able to follow both verbal and written directions.
- Must have computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.

- Must be able to work in environments with high noise levels, flashing lights, smoking areas, and large crowds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic security procedures.
- Knowledge and skill operating a two-way portable radio to coordinate and dispatch information to other radio users.
- Knowledge of all applicable laws, rules, and regulations governing the Gaming Enterprise.
- Skill in identifying suspicious activity or security violations that require intervention and taking action to address such matters
- Skill in working courteously with the public as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to learn Gaming Enterprise policies and procedures related to effective work performance.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to apply common sense reasoning to a variety of situations and carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form in a professional manner.
- Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced atmosphere and under pressure.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
- Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Must be able to obtain a valid gaming license/background check.
Preferred Requirements:
- Four (4) months job related security, law enforcement, or military experience.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
- A valid driver’s license
The Gaming Enterprise Division and the Tribal Enterprise Division (collectively Casino Del Sol) are divisions of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. As a result, preferential hiring will go in this order to: (1) enrolled members of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; (2) Spouses and biological and adopted children of enrolled Pascua Yaqui Tribal members who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; (3) Enrolled member of other Federal recognized Tribes who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; and (4) all others who meet the position’s minimum qualifications.
