Under general direction of the System Director of Legal, Associate will perform a wide range of Safety and Security duties providing a safe and secure environment. Provide minimal maintenance assistance. Exhibits the values of F.I.R.S.T. (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust) of Ephraim McDowell Health (EMH).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Employment may require performing supplemental tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue. Subject to burns, cuts, strains, abrasions, and electric shock. Works varied shifts and on occasion, may be required to work extended shifts/hours or extra shifts for security coverage. Subject to seasonal weather exposure to perform various functions (i.e. shoveling snow, salting sidewalks). Normal stress involved. Heavy stress may be involved on occasion. May be exposed to situations with the ability to restrain persons who may pose a threat to Associates, patients, visitors or guests. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently. Must be able recognize and identify a physical description during various codes/situations in addition to identifying various equipment within the environment.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
Will have contact with other Associates, visitors/guests and patients, law enforcement, and other first responders on a routine basis.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must know how to operate hand tools and perform some maintenance for emergency situations. May have to use alternative protective equipment (tasers, metal detectors, etc.)
Qualifications
Two (2) years experience in healthcare security or law enforcement preferred.
