Security Officer 1 (Unarmed Security) are instrumental in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors and visitors by monitoring and patrolling our facilities. Officers demonstrate exceptional customer service while providing assistance with disruptive incidents, emergency services, personal protection and traffic/parking control. Other related duties as assigned.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to perform continuous physical exertion activities (going up and down multiple flights of stairs, standing and walking for extended periods of time, carrying people in emergency situations, etc.), as needed. Must meet all physical requirements of the job. This could require an annual physical;
• Must be able to perform duties wearing personal protective equipment (Masks, gowns, security-related equipment, etc.), as required;
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, as well as an annual background check;
• Effective written and oral communication skills a must (includes using proper grammar and spelling or report writing responsibilities);
• Effective interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner;
• Ability to use initiative and independent judgment;
• Ability to frequently prepare written reports and provide quality customer service;
• Ability to handle both common and crisis situations, calmly and efficiently.
• Must wear issued Kevlar Vest under uniform shirt.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school graduate or GED required or equivalent combination of education and experience

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Requires the ability to obtain, and maintain, appropriate state license/certifications for this position.
• Level II Noncommissioned Security Officer with the Texas Commission on Private Security within 60 days of hire
• Must maintain a valid state driver’s license.
• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support through American Heart Association with 30 days of hire or transfer into the unit.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) within 60 days of employment or transfer date into the department
