Job Shift: AnyUnder general supervision of the Chief Facilities Management Officer, the Security Manager provides technical supervision of other Security Guards as well as personally providing Security Services to assure the protection of life and property. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Checks security logs and incident reports daily. Reviews and forwards to Deputy Security Guard Supervisor.
- Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, schedules, time approval, hiring, training, orientation, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
- Improves staff effectiveness by motivating, coaching, counseling, training and recommending disciplinary action for employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner.
- Develops annual work plans for Security Supervisor/ Security Guard activities, aligning them with the organization’s strategic objective, to also include an emphasis on education and training opportunities.
- Coordinates updates and training to ensure ongoing compliance with The Joint Commission standards related to security, workplace violence, and emergency management.
- Ensures equitable and documented shift rotation, including fair distribution of nights, weekends, and holidays in accordance with department scheduling procedures
- Manages staff scheduling by approving leave requests, updating attendance, and processing timecards in Paycom. Ensures consistent procedures are followed for annual leave, last-minute call-outs, and that all schedule changes are properly documented in the Paycom system.
- Develops and implements plans and procedures to ensure a comprehensive security program that addresses ongoing risks such as fire, accidents, theft, unauthorized entry, and both internal and external emergencies.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive security management plan/ program that aligns with the organization’s overall strategic goals
- Conducts routine security risk assessments to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential risks to the organization, developing strategic action plans to mitigate these risks effectively.
- Meets with immediate supervisor on all major security incidents.
- Ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff, and property by managing daily security operations in compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable accreditation standards.
- Reviews and updates Security policies and procedures as needed, conducting thorough evaluations at least annually to ensure their relevance and effectiveness.
- Makes periodic inspection of security operations to ensure the program is carried out in an effective and efficient matter.
- Ensures timely handling and coordination of reported adverse events, overseeing their resolution, and document closeout and follow-up actions to ensure thorough and efficient resolution.
- Leads the facility Workplace Violence Prevention program, including threat assessment, incident response, coordination with clinical leadership and Human Resources, staff training, and continuous improvement of prevention strategies to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
- Conducts and/or directs investigation of complaints and violations of regulations by employees, patients and visitors. Apprehends suspects and interviews witnesses, exercising good judgment to ensure that the rights of individuals are not violated.
- Ensures impartiality and professionalism in handling internal complaints or employee matters. Avoids any actions that may contribute to bias, favoritism, or retaliation.
- Makes deposition relative to violations for review by WIHCC Attorney and/or Magistrate and may serve as witness in relation to a particular case.
- Maintains liaison with federal, state, city and other law enforcement agencies.
- Coordinates Security operations with the activities of clinical, administrative, and support departments across DMC, Winslow Indian Health Care Center (WIHCC), and the Leupp satellite clinic
- Assists with WIHCC/DMC Emergency Management planning, including but not limited to directing traffic, securing facility perimeters, and supporting other responsibilities as needed during emergency situations.
- Standardizes and oversees all security operations across three healthcare facilities, DMC, WIHCC & Leupp by developing, implementing, and enforcing uniform security policies, procedures, post orders, and training standards to ensure consistent protection of patients, staff, visitors, and assets.
- Oversees training programs to promote strong security awareness and ensure staff remain motivated and well-prepared.
- Assesses team performance to measure training effectiveness and provides guidance to support continuous improvement.
- Schedules classroom and practical exercise training courses on a continuing basis.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date training records, documentation, and reference materials in accordance with Joint Commission standards.
- Reviews traffic for prompt evacuation of threatened areas in the event of disaster.
- Reviews traffic complaints, investigates traffic accidents, and maintains a continuous evaluation of traffic conditions and makes or recommends improvements to supervisor.
- Receives continued training in regular and special security procedures in effect for the area guarded, including methods of observing and identifying persons; recognition of subversive devices; methods for eliciting information; methods for searching and disarming persons; methods in crisis prevention; methods in customer service; disaster and evacuation plans; and procedures for controlling or quelling riots or mobs.
- Assists with and leads monthly Security Department meetings at each site to ensure program effectiveness and to address any departmental concerns.
- Reports monthly, quarterly and annually on the status of the Security Program and reports on corrective action(s) taken with evidence of resolution; to several committees in the organization
- Requires completion of tasks or duties assigned by a supervisor.

QualificationsMinimum
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED and five to six years of experience in the field of Law Enforcement and/or Security Supervisory experience. Strong background in the field of Security Services. Certification in AVADE (Awareness–Vigilance–Avoidance–Defense–Escape) and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or must be obtained within three (3) months of employment. Both certifications must be maintained annually thereafter. Bilingual skills in English and Navajo language preferred. Must maintain a valid unrestricted and insurable driver’s license. Must possess a valid CPR/ First Aid Certification. Must successfully pass a background investigation and maintain suitable requirements for a Child Care position. This position is considered as a Child Care position, which requires a satisfactory background check investigation and is subject to the requirements of the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, as amended (henceforth referred as the ICPFVP Act).

Physical Demands:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects and equipment, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively by talking and hearing. The employee frequently must stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and may occasionally use taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office setting or outdoor work environment with moderate noise levels. Work environment may involve exposure to physical risks, such as blood borne pathogens, hazardous chemicals, or operating potential dangerous equipment, and requires adherence to all safety protocols. Required work schedules may include evening, weekend, overnight shifts, extended hours, or irregular schedules and rotation as operational needs dictate.
