Job Description

The Security Manager is responsible for the planning, administration, supervision, and continuous improvement of all security, protection, and emergency response operations within the hotel. The primary responsibility of this role is to safeguard the physical well-being of guests, employees, visitors, and company assets while ensuring compliance with corporate policies, safety standards, legal requirements, and service expectations.

The Security Manager also coordinates the response and management of incidents, emergencies, internal investigations, and preventive security programs, working closely with Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Engineering/Maintenance, and Executive Management to maintain a safe, orderly, and service-oriented environment.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement, and review security policies, procedures, and programs for the organization.
  • Conduct security audits and periodic risk assessments.
  • Organize and lead the Security Department, ensuring compliance with operational objectives and service standards.
  • Recommend security programs, initiatives, and improvements to Senior Management.
  • Maintain up-to-date emergency response and contingency plans.
  • Assign duties, schedules, and coverage responsibilities to security personnel.
  • Monitor employee performance and ensure officers remain in their assigned areas.
  • Oversee the proper completion and follow-up of security logs and operational reports.
  • Conduct regular patrols throughout the property to identify irregularities, risks, incidents, or suspicious individuals.
  • Keep Executive Management informed of significant events occurring within the hotel.
  • Prepare and distribute security reports to Executive Management and relevant departments.
  • Respond to and manage incidents involving guests, visitors, and employees.
  • Investigate accidents, losses, thefts, property damage, and any illegal or suspicious activities.
  • Address security-related claims and implement corrective actions.
  • Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering the property.
  • Oversee visitor, contractor, and vendor access controls.
  • Manage security operations in parking areas and access points.
  • Supervise the installation, operation, and maintenance of CCTV systems, alarms, fire protection systems, and other security equipment.
  • Ensure all security systems are properly maintained and updated.
  • Coordinate with Information Technology regarding electronic locks, access control systems, and key rotation processes as required.
  • Manage the assignment, control, auditing, and safeguarding of master and departmental keys.
  • Oversee the control of packages, merchandise, and items entering or leaving the property.
  • Manage authorized gate passes for equipment loans, repairs, or transfers.
  • Coordinate immediate response to incidents, accidents, fires, disturbances, and other emergencies.
  • Develop, review, and execute emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate fire drills, evacuation exercises, and other emergency preparedness activities.
  • Coordinate and maintain the hotel's Hurricane Preparedness Plan.
  • Ensure fire protection equipment is operational and properly identified.
  • Coordinate preparedness and response activities for natural and operational emergencies.
  • Promote safe work practices and compliance with preventive safety standards.
  • Organize and lead Safety and Hygiene Committee meetings.
  • Actively participate in Executive, Operations, and Emergency Response Committees.
  • Coordinate training programs in first aid, fire prevention, chemical handling, and the safe operation of equipment.
  • Implement musculoskeletal injury prevention programs.
  • Conduct random alcohol screening tests in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor compliance with safety footwear and personal protective equipment (PPE) programs.
  • Maintain adequate first aid supplies and coordinate support with medical services when required.
  • Ensure security personnel maintain high standards of service, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Provide assistance to guests during emergencies, security incidents, or special situations.
  • Properly manage Lost & Found procedures and records.
  • Coordinate activities related to vehicle access control.
  • Maintain and safeguard departmental files, records, and documentation.
  • Manage departmental resources and operating expenses.
  • Promote awareness programs related to risk prevention and human trafficking prevention.
  • Train employees to identify and report risk situations.
  • Maintain and enforce corporate policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Monitor compliance with company standards regarding uniforms, personal appearance, and employee conduct.
  • Coordinate and follow up on internal and external audits related to Security, Environmental Compliance, and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements established by Be Safe, Global Safety, Fire Life Safety, Environmental programs, Civil Protection, CMX, STPS, and any other applicable corporate standards or regulatory authorities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor action plans resulting from audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain current documentation, evidence, and records required for audits and certification processes.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to address audit findings, observations, and improvement opportunities identified during inspections and assessments.

Job Specifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Criminology, Security Management, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Proven experience in personnel management.
  • Strong background in law enforcement, security operations, and loss prevention.

Technical Skills

  • Emergency Response Planning and Management.
  • Fire Brigade Coordination and Fire Prevention Programs.
  • First Aid and Emergency Preparedness.
  • Knowledge of security systems, access control, CCTV, and life safety programs.
