The Position

Main tasks:

As a Site Security Officer (SSO) of legal entity 6221 across Hyderabad and Pune sites, you provide subject matter expertise on technical security topics locally including expert guidance and support to business areas and colleagues.

As a SSO, you will be responsible for building operational capabilities and creating a clearly defined protection environment for your site. The Site Security Officer is a primary point of contact for topic-related questions for all site employees and works closely with Group Security colleagues, the site management and various internal and external stakeholders. This role is critical in implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the Roche security framework. The role will take care of a wide range of organizational protection responses to prevent, detect and support corrective actions to reduce negative business impacts.

The role includes providing support and advice to all areas of the business in relation to physical security advisory, security incident & emergency management, travel risk, executive protection services and product crime investigations. The SSO will play a pivotal role in building local resilience by supporting local senior management and business functions, as well as supporting effective response and recovery principles.

What you’ll do

Security Governance and Compliance

  • Support adherence to global security standards, local regulations, and industry best practices at the site
  • Management of outsourced security services, ensuring high performance and compliance with contractual obligations
  • Ensure local compliance with all relevant regulations and standards related to product security, including serialization, track-and-trace requirements, and anti-counterfeiting measures
  • Elaboration /issuing/ update of the site security risk assessment, policy, handbook, concepts, procedures, Checklists etc.
  • Implement and maintain robust security protocols in warehousing and distribution
  • Supervises internal security employees as well as external security service providers

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including site senior management, SHE Officer, government agencies, law enforcement, and other relevant organizations
  • Act as a partner between the global SHE team and local stakeholders, fostering open communication and collaboration
  • Regularly communicate Security updates, initiatives, and best practices to ensure alignment and understanding across the site
  • Immediately reports Security incidents to local management and Group Security
  • Regularly communicate security updates, initiatives, and performance metrics to the global SHE team
  • Collaborate with local business representatives to ensure the implementation and delivery of security vision and strategy on the site, regarding security topics

Risk Assessment and Mitigation

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, considering political, environmental, and operational factors specific to the location
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with senior site management, site stakeholders
  • Continuously monitor and analyze emerging security threats, adapting mitigation plans and advising the business on any required protective measures
  • Consulting Roche stakeholders and event managers planning a major conference in the country

Security Risk Management

  • Implement risk mitigation plans that address security threats, utilizing a combination of preventive, detective, and corrective controls
  • Fulfill Global Logistics Security requirements by close coordination with local business representatives
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to integrate security considerations into operational processes
  • Support the implementation of risk mitigation plans that prioritize prevention and deterrence measures, such as security awareness training, physical security enhancements, travel security and event security
  • Is proactively involved in major projects (also in design phase) representing the security stake and requirements
  • Ensures that measures are taken for physical security, personnel security, information protection and product security on the basis of a written risk assessment

Incident Response and Emergency Management

  • Is member of the Local Emergency Management (LEM) Team and as a primary point of contact for Group SHE during security incidents at the location
  • Support the local response during incidents, coordinating with local teams, stakeholders, and the global SHE team to ensure a swift and coordinated response
  • Ensure swift and efficient activation of local emergency plans and coordinate response efforts with global teams and stakeholders
  • Provide expert input during incidents, including security assessments and operational decision-making
  • Participate actively in post-incident reviews, contributing insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Conducts and supports internal investigations, including such on behalf of compliance and product crime investigations
  • Ensure the site is prepared to respond effectively to all security incidents, including those related to product counterfeiting and supply chain disruptions
  • Is able to manage critical issues/cases related to security of the company/site (including participation in investigations)

Emergency Management implementation and leadership

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the LEM framework
  • Support the LEM team, ensuring they are well-versed in Emergency Management protocols and procedures
  • Support the local implementation of technology tools for communication and coordination during incidents and risk intelligence gathering
  • Support the maintenance of local emergency plans tailored to identified local risks and threats

Recovery and Business Continuity

  • Partner with local business continuity teams to ensure seamless integration of security measures into business continuity strategies
  • Partner with local business continuity teams to ensure that supply chain resilience and product integrity are considered

Audit Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) Closure

  • Support local stakeholders with the closure of Group SHE / SHE Compliance Audit CAPAs
  • Monitoring of open CAPAs to ensure timely closure by the relevant responsibles

Training and Awareness

  • Implement comprehensive training programs and support facilitation in exercise planning and execution on security matters
  • Support a culture of security awareness and preparedness among employees within the region
  • Use the defined digital tools for effective communication and coordination, and to effectively capture incident details to support root cause and learning

Who you are

  • Experience (15+ years) working in a matrixed environment in Security Management
  • Demonstrates experience in Corporate Security Management operations
  • Has specialist knowledge of Security Management and other related disciplines
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the relevant subject matter area(s)
  • Certifications: Professional security certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP, or regional equivalents) are highly desirable
  • Ability to network in a matrix organization, working with diverse cross-functional teams, representing various cultural and professional backgrounds
  • Ability to operate in high pressure, time sensitive emergency situations
  • Able to deliver outcomes through collaborating and partnering widely with inclusion
  • Ability to understand customers needs and to navigate in complex situations
  • End-to-end responsibility, impact understanding and engaging others to
    ensure successful outcomes
  • Demonstrated curiosity to continue building and foster capabilities

  • Ability to work flexible hours and be available during emergencies
  • High proficiency in English (spoken and written) and dominant local language(s) is a requirement

Additional tasks:

  • Strength - 2200 (Pune site 616 +100 consultants (will grow to 800). Hyderabad site: 1300)
  • This could be a people leader role in the future with security officers reporting to the head of Site security.
